Fr.
Manning Cup 2013:
Permission has been granted for the running of this competition for this
year. The future of this type of competition will be clarified at next year’s
Congress.
National
GAA Club Draw: This is going ahead. Tickets €10.00.
Prizes provided by Croke Park. It will be launched before Christmas with the
draw taking place on St. Patrick’s Day.
Players
Open Night: This was very successful. A week may be
designated for it next year from which counties can pick a day which suits
them.
National
Health and Safety Committee: Their recommendation
that no unauthorized persons be allowed on pitches at half-time or between
matches was accepted in principle with the details to be further clarified.
National
Games Development Committee: They report a 30%
increase in participation levels since Go Games were introduced.
Venue
for Annual Congress: A 3-year cycle was agreed commencing next
year. Year 1 Croke Park, Year 2 County of new President, Year 3 Available to
counties to make application.
2013 Fr. Manning Cup U16 Football
Tournament
The Fr. Manning Cup
started last week, first named teams have home venue, each round will be played
on a Wednesday evening start last week, although round 1 started last Thursday,
11th July 2013 due to a Leinster Blitz Finals taking place last Wednesday.
Sligo were due to play Cavan last week but Cavan failed to field due to minor
league game fixtures on during the week. Sligo face Longford this Wednesday. Group 1 Westmeath V Longford, Sligo V
Cavan, Group 2 Roscommon V Offaly,Leitrim
V Kildare. Round 2 Wednesday, 17th
July 2013. Group 1 Longford V Sligo, Cavan V Westmeath. Group 2 Offaly V Leitrim, Kildare V
Roscommon. Round 3 – Wednesday, 24th
July 2013. Group 1 Sligo V Westmeath, Longford V Cavan, Group 2 Leitrim V Roscommon, Offaly V
Kildare. The Finals are due to be played on the 7th August 2013.
Warm Up Competitions & League Finals
Congrats to
Coolera/Strandhill on winning the Kiernan
Cup defeating Curry in the final by the narrowest of margins 1.10 to 1.11.
Congrats to
Tubbercurry on the double as they won the Benson
Cup defeating St. Farnans with a comfortable margin of 1.19 to 1-8 and last
weekend they defeated Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in the Division 2 League final on
a score line of 15pts to 11.
