In the club’s first game of 2014 the Intermediate team lost to reigning county Intermediate champions Tourlestrane in the league clash between the sides on Sunday in Templeboy. After a disappointing start the side rallied in the second quarter before going in at the break trailing by 1-6 to 1-9. The sides were level midway through the second half but the visitors superior physical strength and experience saw them pull away in the closing stages to win on a scoreline of 2-17 to 1-11. Well done to all associated with the local Community Games Draughts teams which captured a clean sweep of county titles in the finals which took place in Dromore West on Saturday last.
Club players Gráinne Mulligan, Joanne Ryan, Susan McDermott and Áine Hanley were to be seen strutting their stuff on stage at the Hawkswell Theatre last weekend as members of the cast of the St. Mary’s College production of the musical “Back to the eighties”.
