The Connacht Finals of Scór Sinsear took place on Saturday last in St.Brigids Hall Tubbercurry. The packed audience was treated to some splendid entertainment and our Sligo representatives did us more than proud.

Noelle Breenan of Coolaney Mullinabreena took to the stage first for Sligo in the solo singing and sang beautifully. Next up was Keith Henry (Bunninadden) in the recitation who recitited a comical piece called The Measuring Hat.

St.Farnan's Instrumental Music got the thumbs up from the adjudicators and claimed top spot in their discipline. The group made up of Alva Dunne, Deirdre Kilgannon, Laura Flatley, Martin Mulligan and Leanne Dunne will now compete in the All-Ireland final.

Eileen Leonard from Drumcliffe/Rosses Point cleared the dust from the stage with her fine performance in the Sean Nós Dancing competition.

St Molaise Gaels were represented in two compeitions. Their Ballad Group claimed second place and gave a rousing rendition of Mick McGilligans Ball to get the toes tapping. The Leiriu or drama group, were crowned Connacht Champions. Prannie Rhatigan, Jacinta Sexton, Michael O'Connor, Anthony Brennan, Paddy Meehan, Declan Bruen and Gene Sheerin performed their piece about a Spanish Armada Shipwreak on Streedagh Strand in 1588 in a very professional production.

Both St Farnan's and St Molaise Gaels will now compete in the All-Ireland Scór Sinsear finals in the TF Castlebar on Saturday 26th April.

The County Scór Sinsear Quiz takes place on Saturday April 5th in Corhownagh Hall, Ballisodare. Tables are made up of four members over the age of 17.
