The club extends condolences the McDemott family in Ballyweelin, Rosses Point following the death of PJ McDermott last week. PJ was a popular and well-known figure within the club for many years and had a true grá for the GAA as well as for his beloved Mayo.

Congratulations to our club players Sean Power and Cian Lally and all the Sligo minor team following their Connacht Championship quarter-final win over Leitrim last weekend.

We wish manager Aidan Rooney and the lads every success in Friday evening’s semi-final clash with Roscommon at Dr Hyde Park. Throw-in 7:30pm. Please come out and support the team if you can.

Our senior men’s team were beaten by Tourlestrane last Sunday in their opening group match of this year’s Senior Club Championship on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-6. Alan O’Dowd’s first half goal kept us in the hunt in the opening half. However, Tourlestrane pulled well clear in the second half-hour. Our next championship game will be at home to Eastern Harps, probably in early August (Date and time tbc).

Well done to the girls U12 footballers who won their league final last week with a 16 points to 5 win over Ballymote.

The club’s youth hurling camp in Oxfield last week was a big success with over 30 players taking part. Our thanks to Galway’s John & Padraig Brehony for their expertise and enthusiasm throughout the five days.

The management, parents and players of our U14 Féile hurling team would like to thank the following businesses who provided financial support for the event: Batty's Pub Carney. Carraroe Motor Factors, Coyles Centra in Cartron, Donlon Civil & Building Services, Jako Sports, Lavins Ballymote, Mullaneys Supervalu Grange, Sásta Health & Fitness, TJ Larkins Hurl maker, Galway.

The U14s play Easkey in the league final this Friday evening in Scarden at 7:30pm.

Our U16s play Tubbercurry on Saturday.

Well done to the Oxfield Centre Committee and all their volunteers on another hugely successful Funday event last Sunday.

The club is organising volunteers to run the public car parks for this weekend’s Lissadell Country & Garden Fair on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th. This will be a significant fundraiser and we need as many volunteers as possible to help staff the car parks on both days. There are three time slots each day: 9am-12pm, 12pm-3pm, 3pm to 6pm. Please advise Geraldine Gibbbons 087 2338987 of the hours which you are available for.

Do you have clothes which you want to recycle? The club will be holding a Clothing Recycling Drive on Saturday, July 11th, in Oxfield from 9am to 2pm. You can donate all your clean unwanted clothes, bed linen, towels, curtains, soft toys etc. See our facebook page for more details.

Our GAA U6 nursery players have been invited to take part in a fun blitz this Saturday morning (June 4th) at Calry/St Joseph’s GAA Club. It will start at 9:45am and finish at 11am. Every player gets a game. Parents, please ensure players bring their gumshields and a drink bottle with them. We meet at 9:45 at the GAA pitch in Hazelwood.
