St John’s G.A.A. Academy receives sponsorship from Quayside Shopping Centre, writes Michael McGee.

St. John’s Academy has secured Sponsorship from Quayside Shopping Centre. The formal sponsorship took place before last evening’s U-12 league game with Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in Cleveragh. Quayside’s Marketing Manager Christine Dolan presented the Club’s Juvenile Chairman Fergal Kelly with the sponsorship alongside Joint U-12 Managers Michael Hegarty & Gerry Quinn.

Quayside is one of the largest Shopping Centres in the Northwest. With over 40 stores including TK Max, Next, Lifestyle Sports, Monsoon and has more than 300 employees.
Christine explained why Quayside got involved with the club this year.

“We wanted to do something local. We do a lot of sponsorship for local charities each year like the Northwest Hospice and wanted to do something in the local community. We put sponsorship aside each year and wanted to be involved with one of the local G.A.A. teams. Quayside Shopping Centre are very happy to support the St. John’s G.A.A. Club underage section.”

Juvenile Club Chairman Fergal Kelly described how the sponsorship came about.

“We approached the Quayside shopping centre earlier in the year. We made a suggestion to them as regards possible sponsorship. We spoke to Christine Dolan Marketing Manager in Quayside. And made a number of proposals to them. Thankfully they came on board with the underage section of the club. The U-12 group consists of two teams the older team of U-12’s are coached and managed by Brian Flynn & Justin McGoldrick while the younger U-11’s are coached by Gerry Quinn & Michael Hegarty."

Club Chairman delighted with the new sponsorship partners.

“It’s absolutely fantastic to see one of the top shopping centres in Sligo come on board with the G.A.A. Club. Like any G.A.A. Club fundraising is difficult. And to have a main sponsor in this section of the club is a fantastic addition. We are very grateful to Christine and to all the management in Quayside for their assistance.”
