Commiserations the Sligo Minors on their defeat to Galway in the Connacht final replay played in Tuam last Friday. Our own Brian Mahon is involved with the Aidan Rooney’s charges and we are immensely proud of what they have achieved to date. Let’s hope they pick themselves up for their next outing.

Best of luck to Niall Carew and the Sligo team as they travel to Croke Park to take on Tyrone in Round 4 of the qualifiers.

The seniors got their junior a campaign off to a winning start with a 3-9 to 2-5 win over Curry in Connolly Park on Sunday. In truth we never really got going but did enough to secure the points. Best on the day for the Gaels was Stanley Harte. We are out again next weekend against Coolera/Strandhill. Team: Gavin Phelan, Garrett Lavin (Eoghan Kilroy), Kyle Taheny, John Core, Peter Wynne, Jason Farrell, Tom Leydon, Simon Cashman, Niall Hodgins, Neil McLoughlin (Gerard Doyle), Conor Davey, Stanley Harte, Rhys McMorrow, Michael Casey, Aaron Nicholson.

The junior B team went down by the minimum to St. Pats in the first round of the Junior B championship on a score line of 1-7 to 0-11. Down 0-9 to 1-1 at one stage the lads gave everything against a more experienced and physical side. On a positive note we had 5 senior championship debutants in Senan Sheehan, Ryan Philips, Ross Farrell, Shane Kerr and Ethan McLoughlin. Sheehan was probably our best player on the night and Farrell kept us in the game with the crucial goal, a great run and finish. Kerr was excellent between the sticks. The physicality of the encounter will stand to the lads going forward. Other notable performances from Kieran White and Gerard Doyle. Next out they play St. Marys where a win should still see us qualify for the quarter finals.
Team: Shane Kerr, Paddy Waters (Rory Dillon), Kieran White, Sean O'Connell (Martin Brannigan), Shane Maye, Mark Gilmore, Brian O'Connell, Gerard Doyle, Brendan McCann, Senan Sheehan, Ryan Philips, Trevor Sweeney, Ethan McLoughlin (Peter Murray), Adrian Egan, Ross Farrell.

Well done to the minor girls who beat St Molaise Gaels on Tuesday evening in grange in minor championship. 3-10 to 2-8 after a tight affair.

The u-16 lads got their championship campaign underway with a hard - fought win over St. Marys at Connolly Park last Monday, 3-8 to 3-6. After going 4 down early on the lads put in a good display to come back and win. Room for improvement but a good evenings work. Best on the day for the Gaels was captain for the day James Duffy and Tony Fox.

Hard luck to the u14 boy’s side who suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Castleconnor last Wednesday. On a brighter note congrats to u14 player Darragh Connolly who was part of the Connacht side who were victorious in the golf at the weekend.

Best of luck to the u12 boys as they face Curry in the u12 B championship final in Markievics Park in Tuesday 29th July. Also a massive congratulations to U12 player Josh Mulrennan who was part of the Sligo/Leitrim side who triumphed at the Foyle Cup. Let’s hope he picks up another piece of silverware this Tuesday.
