Bunninadden
vs Castleconnor
Markievicz
Park, Sunday 27th September (3pm)
The meeting
of Bunninadden and Castleconnor in the Kennedy’s Intermediate Championship
semi-final is sure to be a close encounter.
Both sides
will harbour ambitions of going the whole way having reached the semi-final
stage with relative ease, although both had to overcome tricky quarter-final
ties.
For
Bunninadden, they will be keen to restore their senior status after they were
relegated back to the intermediate grade in 2013, a year after they captured
the second-tier crown in 2012.
They south
Sligo men have plenty of quality in their ranks – think Joe Rogers, Michael
Gormley and Vincent Frizzell – while some experienced heads such as Mark
Gormley and Liam Og Gormley provide a sturdy spine to the team.
Castleconnor
too have plenty of experience in Michael and Kevin Langan, as well as Eamon
Cawley, but Kevin McDonnell and Stephen Curley also add a nice blend of youth
to their side.
Their bench
was utilised to good effect in their quarter-final win over
Enniscrone/Kilglass, and that could prove to be a decisive factor on Sunday
afternoon.
The sides
met earlier in the competition in the group stages – Bunninadden edged a close
contest 2-12 to 1-11 – and Sunday’s encounter promises to be even more
competitive.
