We were treated to a "Super Sunday" at the weekend with the u12 girls booking their place in the County Final with a well deserved win over St Mary's at Hazelwood. Final score
Calry/St Josephs 4.11
St Mary's 3.05.
The girls now face Grange on Sunday week.
Straight to Markievicz Park then for the David v Goliath battle between ourselves and Reigning County Champions Tubbercurry.
Few people had any hope for our newly promoted lads, and the talk around the County was that Tubber had got the "easy draw"!!
Well someone forgot to tell Eamonn Kelly and his players that because from the start,  they tore into Tubber and played like their lives depended on it.
Goals in each half from Paddy Heraghty and Bryan McGovern,  along with two point blank saves from Aidan Devanney (who also knocked over two trademark long range frees also), were enough to see us through. Also on the score sheet were Barry OBoyle 2, Darragh Cummins (2f), Eoin Doherty 2, Daire OBrien 1, Paddy Heraghty 1-01.
But for some indiscipline in the backs and the accurate free taking of Colm MaGee (5f),  we would have won by a lot more.
Congratulations lads on a truly stunning victory and it's onwards now to face Curry in the Semi final next Sunday at Markievicz Park again,  throw in 3.15pm.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our Club to reach the Senior County Final for the first in our History time so please come out, show your colours and support the lads.
Unfortunately it wasn't to be for the Ladies who went out of the Connacht Championship to a very strong Moycullen team from Galway. Well done girls on a great year.
