Enniscrone/Kilglass indoor astro turf arena ratified

On Thursday evening last, Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA club members formally gave permission to the club to proceed with a revolutionary indoor astro turf facility and gym complex that will be situated at the club grounds in Quigabar.

Complete with a kitchen and toilets, this facility is one of only three in the country and is set to make Enniscrone/Kilglass’ facilities among the best in the country.

First and foremost, however, the project is intended to be a centre for the development of young footballers within the parish, with the view to providing a world-class training facility to produce better and skilled players.

Speaking following ratification of this major development, club chairman Declan Rouse commented: “This is a landmark day for our club, and one which firmly sets out our intention to provide high quality facilities to players of all ages in Enniscrone/Kilglass.

“Our ambition is to return to being a prominent force on the playing fields, and with this project we are stating our ambition to produce footballers capable of competing with the best.

“Our coaching structure at present is well organised and with huge numbers at younger age groups, this complex when complete will provide the ideal facility for underage players in particular to hone their skills all year round.

“In addition, this centre could well become a hub for various other local groups, who are currently without a centre to undertake their activities.

“All in all, this is a big step in the right direction for Enniscrone/Kilglass and I, as with other club members, look forward to the exciting times ahead.”

Construction on the project is set to start in the coming months.
