Sligo GAA announce Day at the Races
RTE broadcaster and Sligo native Louise Heraghty to judge
Best Dressed Lady

GAA are delighted to announce their 3rd Annual Day at the Races at
Cleveragh Racecourse on Tuesday 28th June.
This
year’s event will feature 7 races on the flat with top jockeys from across
Ireland in attendance for what promises to be an excellent evening meeting.
Announcing
the Day at the Races, Peter Greene, County Board Treasurer appealed to all
Clubs in the county to partake by organising Groups within their Club area to
attend this novel evening for the GAA fraternity in Sligo.
He
went on to say that the Day at the Races has its usual novel features this year
including the EJ’s Mile event and the Best Dressed competitions for Ladies, Gents
and Couples all linked to the Black & White themed event.
Patrons
are asked to join in the fun by by dressing up in the Black & White colours
of the county and participating in the Black and White theme of the day.
There
will be a fantastic array of prizes for the winners of the;

GAA are delighted that Radio and TV broadcaster, Louise Heraghty will take on the task of judging the Best Dressed Lady.
The Sligo native is a weather presenter on RTÉ, Sunday morning radio presenter
on 98fm and a fitness instructor. Prizes for the Best Dressed Lady include
a €250 voucher from Allure and a pair of tickets to the next race meeting
in August.
The
Best Dressed male competition will be judged by Mark Cunningham of EJ’s and
again a super prize awaits the winner.
A
prize of his & hers jewellery sponsored by Bernardine McGauran will be won
by the Best Dressed Couple as chosen by our judges.
The
EJ’s Sponsored Mile race created a novel attraction last year, particularly
when At the Races on SKY TV picked it up on live coverage. The race over the
full Cleveragh course is open to one representative from each Club in the
County who must be a Registered Adult Club playing member of his Club.
Entries
must be submitted by each Club by Friday 24th June – further details
will follow in the coming weeks.
On
the day each competitor will don their Club jersey and the event which was won
last year by Keelan Kilrehill from St. Farnan’s takes place after the 4th
Race on the card.
The
Race Day committee have an attractive package in place for all those wishing to
attend. The Race Day ticket costs €25 or
€20 for Groups of 10 or more which will provide patrons with;

Tickets
will go on sale next week through the Clubs and through a team of volunteers
across the county in an effort to make this another major event in the Sligo
GAA calendar.
