                   Sligo GAA announce Day at the Races

RTE broadcaster and Sligo native Louise Heraghty to judge Best Dressed Lady

Sligo GAA are delighted to announce their 3rd Annual Day at the Races at Cleveragh Racecourse on Tuesday 28th June.

This year’s event will feature 7 races on the flat with top jockeys from across Ireland in attendance for what promises to be an excellent evening meeting.

Announcing the Day at the Races, Peter Greene, County Board Treasurer appealed to all Clubs in the county to partake by organising Groups within their Club area to attend this novel evening for the GAA fraternity in Sligo.

He went on to say that the Day at the Races has its usual novel features this year including the EJ’s Mile event and the Best Dressed competitions for Ladies, Gents and Couples all linked to the Black & White themed event.

Patrons are asked to join in the fun by by dressing up in the Black & White colours of the county and participating in the Black and White theme of the day.

There will be a fantastic array of prizes for the winners of the;

Best Dressed couple

Best Dressed Lady

Best Dressed Man

Sligo GAA are delighted that Radio and TV broadcaster, Louise Heraghty will take on the task of judging the Best Dressed Lady. The Sligo native is a weather presenter on RTÉ, Sunday morning radio presenter on 98fm and a fitness instructor. Prizes for the Best Dressed Lady include a €250 voucher from Allure and a pair of tickets to the next race meeting in August.

The Best Dressed male competition will be judged by Mark Cunningham of EJ’s and again a super prize awaits the winner.

A prize of his & hers jewellery sponsored by Bernardine McGauran will be won by the Best Dressed Couple as chosen by our judges.

The EJ’s Sponsored Mile race created a novel attraction last year, particularly when At the Races on SKY TV picked it up on live coverage. The race over the full Cleveragh course is open to one representative from each Club in the County who must be a Registered Adult Club playing member of his Club.

Entries must be submitted by each Club by Friday 24th June – further details will follow in the coming weeks.

On the day each competitor will don their Club jersey and the event which was won last year by Keelan Kilrehill from St. Farnan’s takes place after the 4th Race on the card.

The Race Day committee have an attractive package in place for all those wishing to attend. The Race Day ticket costs €25 or €20 for Groups of 10 or more which will provide patrons with;

Admission to the event

Free Race Card
