Our senior hurling team have progressed to the Sligo SHC semifinals following a convincing 3-15 to 3-7 win over local rivals Coolera Strandhill. This was our second win in three games for our young team and it ensures we have secured a place in this years semis prior to the last group game away to Calry St. Joseph's in mid-September.
We got off to a great start, scoring 2-2 in the first five minutes with goals from Paul Kilcoyne and Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch. Stephen Henry added a third goal soon after but Coolera rallied to peg back the deficit to three points at half-time, 3-7 to 3-4. We dominated the second period with a succession of fine points and restricted Coolera to 3 points with some fine defending from our backs, expertly marshalled by full back David Hickey and supported well by all our defenders including Tom O'Callaghan, Cathal Jordan and Geoff Corcoran. Matt Davey was excellent at centre back and Conor McGovern and Liam Henry supported the attacking moves well.
Senior Team and scorers: Michael Healy; Niall Rooney, David Hickey, Cathal Jordan; Geoff Corcoran, Matt Davey, Tom O'Callaghan; Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch (1-6), Tony O'Kelly-Lynch (0-1); Conor McGovern (0-1), Paul Kilcoyne (1-5), Stephen Henry (1-2); Liam Henry, Colm Dolan, Evan Davey. Subs: Robert Hickey, Anthony Kinnane, and Joe Davey.

Training for the senior team is at 7.30pm on Wednesday in Kevinsfort.

Hard luck to our U-14 team who lost out to Benbulben Gaels in Round 2 of the championship.
