Enniscrone/Kilglass
building for the future
The
Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA club officially launched the construction of their
innovative indoor astro-turf complex last Tuesday with a sod turning event at
Quigabar.
Minister of
State for Tourism and Sport Mr Patrick O’Donovan TD officially turned the sod
to herald the start of the construction phase, with other distinguished guests
such as local TDs Tony McLoughlin and Eamon Scanlon, Connacht GAA President
Mick Rock and local councillors also on hand for the landmark day.
A large
crowd of club members, both young and old, turned out for the occasion, while
parish priest Canon George McHale blessed the site.
The project,
for which a €40000 sports capital grant was awarded, will see an indoor
astro-turf training facility installed, while a gym will also be
incorporated.
It is hoped
that the new complex will help aid the club’s underage structure with an
all-year round training facility, with the long-term goal being more frequent
success on the playing fields into the future.
This is the
biggest project in the club’s history, and members and players alike look
forward to the exciting times ahead.
Construction
will begin in the coming weeks.
