Hard luck to club captain Neil Ewing and the Sligo team who produced a spirited showing in Castlebar last Sunday despite coming up short in the end against Mayo. There was more than enough in the performance to approach the qualifiers next month in positive mood.

Our junior men’s footballers made it two wins out of two in Division 4 with a 3-6 to 0-5 win over St John’s in Oxfield on Saturday evening.

Our senior footballers have a north Sligo derby this Saturday evening in the Furey’s Coaches SFL Division 1 when they travel to Grange to take on St Molaise Gaels at 7pm. A big DRP support would be appreciated for this game.

It was a busy week for our U16 hurlers  On Monday they played Naomh Eoin in a playoff match with the winners going to the A league final and the losers going to the Shield final. The playoff match was a close affair but in the second half Naomh Eoin pulled away to win 7-3 to 4-3.  The Shield final was played in Scarden on Thursday against Tubbercurry with our opponents winning by 5-10 to 4-10.  The team included five members of our U14 team which qualified for Féile next month.

The girls intermediate footballers missed out on a league final appearance after they were beaten by Tourlestrane on final scoreline of 5-11 to 3-11 last Sunday morning in Tourlestrane. The girls left themselves too much to do after trailing by 14 points. They produced a spirited second-half display and kept their opponents scoreless in that half-hour so the team can take plenty of encouragement. Attention now turns to preparations for the championship.

Our girls U16 footballers are awaiting confirmation of the date of their Division 1 league final. This follows their fine victory away to Tourlestrane recently which secured them a place in the decider. Details of the final, date and venue will be published on the club’s Social Media pages as soon as they are finalised.

The boys U16 footballers travel to Connolly Park on Thursday evening to play Owenmore Gaels in the league at 7pm. The U14 team received a walkover against the same opposition in Division 1 last Friday evening.

There is an U8/U10 fun blitz with St John’s GAA club in Carraroe this Wednesday evening at 7pm.
Players are asked to assemble at 6:45pm. Contact Michael Timoney (U8) or Alan O’Dowd (U10) for more info.

Well done to club players Danny Cronin, Ben Kelly, Hugh Keaney, Ciarán Smith, Cian Oates, Josh Brady, Ciarán O’Reilly and Desmond Gillen who were part of the Sligo U15 development squad which played Roscommon in Scarden last weekend.

The club’s monthly meeting for May takes place on Monday night (29th) in Oxfield at 9pm.

This year’s Kellogg’s Cúl Camp takes place in Oxfield from July 17th - 21st. For registration details, see the club’s Facebook page or drp.gaa.ie. Book your child online before the end of May to get your child's gear delivered to their school before the end of the school year. Doing this saves you worrying whether they get their gear on the week of the camps

The Rosses Point Community Family Fun Day takes place this Sunday afternoon 28th at Scoil Réalt na Mara from 2-5pm.
