Under 12 Boys

Both teams in the under 12 league had good wins over St. John’s last Tuesday. The under 12 team had a 19-13 victory, while the Division 3 team won 23-16 in what was an excellent team performance. In goals Ronan Adams had an excellent game with great distribution. In defence Darragh Ballantyne and Jack McDaniel were solid in the full back line while half backs Cormac Mullins, Oisin Whelan and David Kennedy attacked at every opportunity Midfielders Thomas Kinane and Hughie Doherty performed well taking some great scores while Ciallan O’ Neill and Mark Keane led the forward line, ably assisted by Hubert Healy, Cathal Hughes, Cathal Gaffney and Shane Prior.

Under 14 Girls

The under 14 girls had their final league group game away to St. Nathy’s on Tuesday last. A scintillating second half performance which saw the girls score 4-08 led to a 5-12 to 4-06 win. The teams were level at half time 1-04 each. Amy Deering opened the scoring with a goal. Enya Hughes followed this with a point; Holly Gilligan contributed 0-02 before Amy added the final point of the half. The second half saw the girls play more fluid football, passing the ball better and supporting each other. Shona Dalton starred in this period scoring five great points from play. Amy Deering added two more to her tally and Holly chipped in with her third. The goals came from Beibhinn Harte (2), the second of which was a spectacular left foot shot to the top corner, Hannah Burrows and Cliodhna O’ Sullivan. This was a strong team display, from Keri Mitchell in goals right up to 15. Mary Kate McPartland and Amy Hampson were dominant in defence, while in attack Amy Deering, Holly Gilligan and Shona Dalton caused the home defence endless problems. The midfield pairing of Beibhinn Harte and Cliodhna O’Sullivan ran tirelessly from start to finish linking defence with attack while also contributing three goals between them. The girls play Shamrock Gaels/Drumcliffe-Rosses Point this evening in the quarter final. Team; Keri Mitchell, Amy Hampson, Ciara Lindsay, Nessa O’ Sullivan, Grace Molloy, Mary-Kate McPartland, Cliodhna O’ Sullivan (1-00), Beibhinn Harte (2-00), Holly Gilligan (0-03), Amy Deering (1-03), Shona Dalton (0-05), Enya Hughes (0-01), Hannah Burrows (1-00)

Junior League

Our junior footballers played host to Curry on Friday evening in Division 4 of the league. A strong second half showing wasn’t enough to turn a half time deficit into victory and we lost 3-16 to 1-11. A point from Conor Gillen and a Martin Savage goal were our only scores of the first half, but things improved after the break, when five points from the boot of John Kilrehill were added to by Martin Savage and Christy Walsh with two points each before David McGee brought proceedings to an end with a well taken score. Team; Oisin Conway, Diarmuid Loftus, Liam Heneghan, James Hampson, Christy Walsh (0-02), Eoin Macken, John Kilrehill (0-05), David McGee (0-01), Colm Scanlon, Declan Cawley (Barry Doyle), Conor Gillen (0-01), Martin Savage (1-02), Alan Scanlon.

Cumann na mBunscol Final

Congratulations to Ransboro NS who won the Cumann na mBunscol final in Markievicz Park on Sunday beating Rathcormac NS on a scoreline of 10 points to 8. In a close match from start to finish the teams were level on a number of occasions and went in level at half time five each. The match continued in the same manner for the second half, both teams exchanging points, until two late scores sealed victory for the boys.
