Reports.
It was a disappointing week for both our U16 and minor footballers with both falling at the final hurl in their respective league finals.
The U16s played out a titanic battle with neighbours Curry in sweltering heat on Monday evening last before eventually going down by two points after extra time in the league final.
On Tuesday evening our minors had a good win over Ballymote/ Bunninadden in what was their best performance all year. Next up was Owenmore Gaels on Thursday evening in the shield final.
Unfortunately the boys couldn't raise their game for this one, going down by 2 points.
A number of these lads had played over 80 minutes of football on Monday, 60 minutes on Tuesday and another 60 minutes on Thursday. Not making any excuses but surely this is a bit much to expect any young fellas to play this much football in such a short space of time.
We would like to wish Oisin Greehan a speedy recovery from an injury he picked up during the game and hopefully he will be back to full fitness for Sligo minors All Ireland quarter final against Derry.
We would also like to thank all the lads for a great effort and hopefully the championship will bring better luck.
Cul Camp.
We would like to thank Pat Kilcoyne and his merry bunch of coaches for another wonderful Cul Camp with over 220 kids in attendance. They experienced all the seasons over the five days but everyone went home happy on Friday with their new gear, lifelong friendships and happy memories.
