Training continues for all teams within St Marys although some would not have a scheduled match for a few weeks. Also, the all-important Saturday morning coaching does not stop for holidays and takes place each weekend. Feedback has been impressive on the kids participating and well done to them and the many coaches involved

The U12 boys continued their impressive form when visiting Eastern Harps last week and returned with a victory by 0-34 to 0-10. They now move to semi-final action on August 8th when hosting Tubbercurry/Cloonacool. Our division 3 side also travelled the same evening to Eastern Harps, but found their opponents a different proposition, ending on the losing side of a 0-20 to 0-12 score. The 2 sides are due to meet again in the division 3 semi-final on August 8th in what promises to be a cracker.

Best wishes to the boys U14 squad who will have a home Championship tie this Friday against Tourlestrane

Thankfully the U14 girls Championship has been deferred and we will now commence on August 14th with an opener against Calry St Josephs. The U16 Championship will take place around this time so it will be a very busy time for this section of St Marys.

Hard luck to our minor girls who were edged for victory by Calry St Josephs by 3 points. A number of the girls were subsequently involved in intermediate Championship action against St Pats on Sunday morning and recorded a very impressive win of 4-14 to 2-06 to book passage to the semi finals

On the men's game, our Junior side had a great victory last Friday over Tourlestrane scoring 6-12 in the process. John Lynch’s team welcomed back Dermot O’Connor after a year’s absence and he marked his return with 4 quality goals.   The win ended a highly enjoyable league campaign and retained Division 3 status.   It is a tremendous boost as the panel prepares for Championship football towards the end of August.   The Senior squad had a solid showing but were unable to get the desired result away to Aughamore of Mayo in the Leo Kenny quarter final. In a low scoring match our Mayo rivals prevailed by 0-14 to 1-07

Sincere thanks to all involved in the race night social evening last Friday whether through helping in organising, sponsoring a race, jockey or horse or by attending on the night
