Minor team played out an epic game last Thursday in Bunninadden in Round 1 ‘A’ Championship against Curry. Leading by 2pts in injury time Curry launched a high ball into B/B square of which Curry found the back of the net. It was heartbreak for B/B as it was difficult to separate these teams. Final score Ballymote/Bunninadden 2-18 Curry 2-19.
Last Sunday evening in first round of Junior Championship Ballymote were able to put behind them the disappointment of losing Division 3 Senior league final by beating Shamrock Gaels. Shamrock Gaels started off the scoring but once Mark Irwin and Peter Lyons found their shooting range, Ballymote were able to take an early lead. Goals from Gerry Brennan and Mark Irwin gave Ballymote a 2-10 to 0-6 lead at half-time.
The second half Shamrock Gaels gained momentum with 1-1 scored from Stephen Willis in quick succession. However Ballymote regained control with the introduction of Niall Colsh and Oisin Conlon. Niall, playing at corner forward, held hold up play and contributed 0-2 to the score line. Shamrock Gaels midfielder Adrian McCann was black carded and Ballymote eased there way to a win. Final score Ballymote 2-18 Shamrock Gaels 1-8.
