The Senior team got the Intermediate Championship of to a winning start with with a 4-14 to 0-7 win over St Michaels at the weekend. After a tentative start, goals from Ciaran O'Connor and Paul Higgins kick started the Gaels and they ran out comfortable winners with two further goals from Johnny Quinn in the second half.  The team was: Mark Tuohy, Colin Harte (0-1), Declan Willis, Keith McMorrow, Ciaran O'Connor (1-1), Frank Quinn (0-3), Conor Merrick, Paul Higgins (1-0), Joe Henry, Liam O'Connell (0-1), David Quinn (0-4), Andy Flynn, Johnny Quinn (2-2), Joe Quinn (0-2), Michael Kilkenny. subs: Darragh Hailstones for M Kilkenny, Daire Kearns for F Quinn, Keith Candon for J Quinn, Paul Brennan for L O'Connell. Next up is Bunninadden next Saturday at 5.30PM in Ballymote.

The Junior team lost to Ballymote in the first round of the A Championship on a scoreline of 2-18 to 1-8. The team was: Rickie Johnston, Eoin O'Connell, Diarmuid Jinks, Daniel Murphy, Liam Tuohy, Gavin McMorrow, Robbie Johnston, Eoin Carroll. Adrian McCann, Marc Keegan, Johnny Kenny, Mark Kearns (0-3), Steven Willis (1-3), Eoin McDermott (0-1), Karl McKenna. Subs: Donal Carroll (0-1) for A McCann, Niall Whelan for R Johnston, Nigel Hargardon for M Keegan, Donal McDermott for E McDermott. Next up is St Marys on Sunday week in Markievicz Park at 12.00PM.  

The Girls U18 team booked their place in the B Championship Final with a narrow 4-16 to 5-11 win over St Mary's last Wednesday. The team was:- Meabh McDermott, Aoife Morrisroe, Sheona Leydon, Lisa Callaghan, Chloe McTiernan (1-0),  Jade Lyons (0-3), Louise Merrick, Erin Mullaney (0-4), Rosin Kearns (1-2), Sarah Walsh, Jane Benson (0-1), Makayla McLoughlin (1-3), Mairead Tuohy (1-3). Sub used: Rachel Boyd. They also played Owenmore Gaels on Sunday in the last game losing 1-13 to 4-13. The team was: Meabh McDermot, Katy McCann, Aoife Morrisroe, Sarah Walsh, Jade Lyons (0-1), Laoise King, Louise Merrick, Rosin Durey, Isobel Clark, Roisin Kearns (0-4), Erin Mullaney (0-3), Rachel Boyd (0-3), Mairead Tuohy (1-2).

The U16 boys play Castleconnor away on Monday 21st August in the Championship at 7.00PM while the U16 Girls play Geevagh at home this Thursday 17th at 7PM.

The Girls U14 team get their championship campaign started this Monday 14th at 7PM away to Eoghan Rua while the Boys U14 play St Michael's away on Thursday 17th at 7PM. 
 

The Girls U12 team lost the final game of the Championship to St Maloise Gaels. The team competed in the A Championship after a successful league campaign working very hard in every game and unlucky not to get a win in the last game. Thanks to Enda Candon, Brenda Crowley and Marina Swan for all their time in training and coaching the girls this year. 

The Boys U12 Division 1 team defeated Owenmore Gaels 19-9 in the Cup semi-final last Tuesday. The team was: Brian Dwyer, Oisin Conlon, Jack Tuohy, Niall Kenny (0-1), George Barlow, Ciaran Kenny (0-3), Sam Tuohy (0-2), PJ Scanlon (0-3), Steven Smith (0-1), James Foley (0-9). They now play St Mary's in the final on Wednesday 23rd at 6.30PM in Markievicz Park.

The Boys U12 Division 3 team lost the shield semi-final 16-7 to Coolera/Strandhill. The team was: Sean Kelly, Leo Scanlon, Jack Tuohy Steven Smith, Alex Clark, Jack Brehony (0-3), PJ Scanlon, Darragh McKeon (0-2), Joris Rooney, Jack Barrett (0-2). 

Good luck to our boys U10 team who play in Scarden next Wednesday evening. 

Well done to our Girls U10 team who played in a blitz in Tubbercurry last Saturday winning 5 out of 6 games. Thanks to CT Gaels for their hospitality. The girls play in Coola this Tuesday against St Maloise Gaels. 

There is a level 1 strength and conditioning course coming up in September. If any coach working with club teams is interested and have completed award 1 please contact Mark Tuohy on 087 9834083.

There will be a used clothes, sheets, curtains, soft toys, shoes etc during the month of August. Please drop bags into the clubhouse before 26th August for further details contact Michelle McMorrow on 087 6157455.

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week with the numbers drawn 4, 17, 20 and 24. There were two match 3 winners, Michael Tuohy and NIall Brennan. The jackpot is now at €1,800 with the next draw on Saturday 26th in Des McDonaghs.

The club wish to express sympathy with the family and relatives of Pat Foley, Sooey and Violet Judith Roycroft, Ballinakill who died last week.
