The club will be hosting ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on 17th November in the Clayton Hotel – this will be a major fundraising event for the upkeep and maintenance of the main pitch in Coola and also the gaelic pitch in Riverstown Park – please support.

The Senior team defeated Bunninadden in the second round of the championship to guarantee a quarter final place. The Gaels found it difficult to break down the Bunninadden blanket defence in the first half and only led by two points at half time, 0-8 to 0-6. With the game opening up a bit in the second half, a goal mid-way from Frank Quinn gave the Gaels a comprehensive lead and they ran out comfortable winners in the end on a score line of 1-16 to 0-12. The team was: Mark Tuohy, Colin Harte, Declan Willis, Keith McMorrow, Ciaran O’Connor, Frank Quinn (0-6), Conor Merrick, Paul Higgins, Joe Henry, Liam O’Connell, David Quinn (0-2), Andy Flynn (0-1), Johnny Quinn, Joe Quinn (0-6, 4f), Darragh Hailstones (0-1). Subs: Daire Kearns for C O’Connor, Paul Brennan for F Quinn.

The Junior team play St Marys in the Championship next Sunday at 12.00PM in Markievicz Park.

The Minor boys play St Maloise Gaels away on Thursday 24th at 7PM in the first round of the Championship.

The U18 girls play Owenmore Gaels on Monday 28th in the final of 

the B Championship - venue to be decided.

The U16 boys are away to Castleconnor this Monday at 7PM in the Championship.

The U16 girls lost narrowly to Geevagh last Thursday. The team was: Meabh McDermott, Ellie McDermott, Leah Monaghan, Chloe McTiernan, Danielle McGovern, Grace O’Carroll, Eala McDermott, Jade Lyons, Aine Kearns, Erin Mullaney, Isobel Clarke, Mia O’Regan, Nadine Hargadon. Subs used: Ana McCann, Kate Breheny, Jessica Crowley. They now play Owenmore Gaels at home this Tuesday at 7PM.

The U14 girls lost to Eoghan Rua last Monday and now play St Maloise Gaels at home this Monday at 6.45PM.

The U14 boys lost 5-4 to 4-11 to St Michaels last week. The team was: Jack Duignan, Jay Rogers, Adam Kearns, Aodhan Eivers, Conor Sheridan, Jamie Parke, Shane Dwyer, Andrew McGreevy, Jason Kilkenny, Conor Mc Morrow (0-2), Liam Candon (1-0), James Foley (2-2), Patrick Barett Subs used: Dylan McKenna (1-0), Sam Tuohy, Ciaran Kenny (1-0), Charlie Mullen, Andrew Barlow, Oisin Conlon Aaron Colon, Nathan Wimsey. They now progress to the shield semi-final.

The U12 boys Division 1 team play St Mary's in the Cup final on Wednesday at 6.15PM in Markievicz Park - please come out and support. The U12 Division 3 team play St Johns in Markievicz Park on Saturday at 2PM.

The G4M&O host a blitz this Sunday at 5.30PM in Coola.

This week is your last opportunity to get rid of those old clothes as the collection is this weekend. Please drop any bags of unwanted clothes, teddy's, soft toys, shoes, boots, curtain, sheet etc to Coola or contact on Michelle 0876157455

There is a level 1 strength and conditioning course coming up in September. If any coach working with club teams is interested and have completed award 1 please contact Mark Tuohy on 087 9834083.

The lotto jackpot stands at €1,800 with the next draw this Saturday 26th in Des McDonaghs.

The club wish to express sympathy with the family and relatives of Rev. Fr James Tighe, Elphin and former curate in Sooey who died last week. Fr James was always a great supporter of the Gaels – Ar Dheis De go Raibh a anam.
