Pride of place this week goes to our victorious U-12 hurling team who brought home the Sligo U-12 A Championship trophy from a sun-soaked Markievicz Park last Tuesday evening following a 9 scores to 3 win in the final versus a gallant Castleconnor.

Captain Robert O'Kelly-Lynch capped a great three days, following his appearance at the INTO Mini Sevens exhibition game at half-time in the Cork v Waterford All Ireland Senior semi-final, to receive the trophy from Coiste na nOg Chairman Joe Murphy on behalf of our talented team. He played tribute to the work of the coaches, parents and mentors lead by Bill O'Kelly-Lynch. The team were very impressive throughout the championship winning all 7 games in the two group stages and then the final gameto bring back our first U-12A title since 2009 and make up for the disappointment of three final losses in the last three years.

Our U-12 final panel was: Shea O'Neill, Thomas Hargadon, Stefan Roche, Conor Golden, Corey O'Dowd, Robert O'Kelly-Lynch, John Corcoran, Dara Mostyn, Aodhán Shovelin, Ronan Niland, Treasa O'Kelly-Lynch, Patrick Murphy, Harry Cawley, James Cronin.

Scores came from our captain Robert O'Kelly-Lynch, his sister Treasa, Dara Mostyn, John Corcoran, and Harry Cawley. We defended with great skill throughout the game with keeper Shea O'Neill, Conor Golden, Stefan Roche, Corey O'Dowd and Thomas Hargadon outstanding.

Our senior team were knocked out of the Martin Brennan Cup on Wednesday night by Calry/St. Joseph's 3-13 to 1-5 in the preliminary round. We were badly depleted and battled bravely against experienced opposition. This followed an excellent 1-18 to1-12 win over Tubbercurry in the Sligo Senior Hurling Championship the previous weekend which keeps alive our chances of making this year's semi-finals.

This will require a win at home to Western Gaels this Saturday evening at 6.30pm and a defeat for Tourlestrane at Calry/St. Joseph's in the final round of group games.

Our Minor hurlers lost heavily to top of the table Easkey/St. Farnan's last Thursday but we have an excellence opportunity of making the B Final with a win in our final group game away to Tourlestrane/Curry next Thursday week (31st August) at 7pm.

Our U-16 hurling team hope to follow up their Round 3 win 6-5 to 4-0 over Tourlestrane with a final round game at home to joint table-toppers Easkey/St. Farnan's next Monday at 7pm.

Well done to all our players who received news of the Leaving Certificate.
