It’s Connacht final Sunday for the Sligo ladies footballers as they bid for a three-in-a-row of provincial intermediate titles. Roscommon provide the opposition in Castlebar this Sunday at 2pm. Best wishes to the DRP contingent on the panel: Michelle McNamara, Sinéad Regan and Jayne McCormack.

Good luck to Neil Ewing and the Sligo men's senior footballers who play Armagh in round two of the All-Ireland football qualifiers on Saturday evening at Markievicz Park. Throw-in: 6pm. Remember, the game must be decided on the day.

Best wishes to Eoghan Smith who lines out with the Sligo Under 17 team this Friday against Mayo in the Connacht minor football championship round robin series.

On the club front, our senior men's footballers returned to winning ways last Sunday in the Kiernan Cup when they ran out 1-14 to 1-8 winners against an understrength St Mary’s team at Oxfield. Despite the slippery conditions, DRP established a 1-9 to 0-3 half-time lead with Kevin Davey finding the net. St Mary’s hinted at a revival shortly after the restart when they goaled, but were are able to re-establish control of the game to finish six points clear. The result moves us up to second in the Group 2 table. We travel to Grange this Sunday to play St Molaise Gaels at 1pm. The winners of that game will qualify for the Kiernan Cup final. Sunday’s team was: Ronan McCormack, Tommy Finnegan, John McGowan, Ciaran McLaughlin, John Harvey (Capt) 0-1, Seán Power 0-1, Oisín O'Reilly, Brian Óg Murphy, Brian Monaghan 0-3, Jamie Gillen 0-2, Niall Collery, Hugh Kisby, Niall Canning 0-2, Kevin Davey 1-0, Paul Logan 0-5 (4f).

Manager: Fergal O’Flaherty.

The junior team were given a walkover against Castleconnor in Division last Friday evening. They travel to play Easkey this Friday evening at 8pm.

After the recent excitement of the All-Ireland Hurling Féile na nGael, Benbulben Gaels Under 14 hurlers will aim to retain their league title this Thursday evening when they play Tourlestrane in the final at Markievicz Park. Throw-in is at 8pm. The players and management would appreciate big support for this game.

Well done to Drumcliffe Handball Club who competed in the 2018 Féile na nGael Handball finals in County Galway at the weekend. The club had two teams competing in Annaghdown and Salthill on Saturday last. The standard was very high and the players will have learned a lot from the experience.

Our girls U8 and U10 nursery footballers will play a fun blitz this Friday June 22nd in Oxfield at 7pm. Players are asked to assemble by 6:45pm.

Our U6 boys and girls nursery footballers (players born 2012 and 2013) have been invited to play a fun blitz with St Mary's this Saturday 24th at Kent Park, starting at 12pm. This event will replace our usual 9:45am coaching session this week. More details will be communicated to parents/guardians in the coming days.

The club’s monthly meeting for June takes place on Monday 25th in Oxfield at 9pm.
