Sligo GAA are delighted to announce to appointment of Darragh Cox from the Calry/St. Joseph's Club as our full-time Hurling Games Promotion Officer. Darragh replaces Benny Kenny who spent six years in the role. 

Darragh has been involved in hurling and football with his club, Calry/St Joseph’s, since he was six years old, and has played for the club at every level in both codes.

He has won 11 county senior hurling championship titles in the past 13 years, as well as four Connacht Junior Hurling Championship titles.

He played for the Sligo county team at all levels and made his senior intercounty debut as an 18-year-old in 1998.

He was a member of the county senior panel for 13 years, and was part of the squad that claimed the Nicky Rackard Cup in Croke Park in 2008.

Ten years later, he was part of the Sligo management team, alongside Daithi Hand and selectors Mark Burke and Morgan Fitzsimons, that claimed the Lory Meagher Cup title at the same venue last month. 

Darragh also managed the Sligo U21 hurlers this season, and has been involved in coaching at senior and underage level since 2011.

The 38-year-old was educated at Sligo School Project and Summerhill College, and graduated with a BA degree from Mary Immaculate College in Limerick.

He played Fitzgibbon Cup hurling with a Mary Immaculate team managed by Eamonn Creegan during his time in third level education.

He has worked full-time for the past 15 years in the media locally and nationally, most recently with Ocean FM.

Darragh will take up his position from the end of August and we wish him all the best in his new role.
