Our senior men’s footballers begin their Belfry Senior Club Championship campaign this Saturday evening when they play Coolera/Strandhill in their opening Group 2 match at Kent Park at 7pm. We are in a three-team group along with St Molaise Gaels. Two teams will qualify for the knockout stages. 

Good luck to Michelle McNamara, Sinéad Regan and the Sligo ladies footballers who play Wicklow in the the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate quarter-final this Monday afternoon at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick (3pm).

The ladies intermediate footballers are scheduled to begin their championship campaign next Sunday, August19th when they travel to South Sligo to play CT Gaels at 10am. There are six teams in the intermediate championship this year which is being played on a round-robin basis. 

The boys U16 footballers continue their championship campaign this Monday evening (Aug 6th) when they welcome Geevagh/St Michael’s to Oxfield at 7pm. The team has played two championship matches to date in the round-robin series, winning one and losing one.

The boys U14 footballers made a winning start to the ‘B’ championship last Friday evening when they recorded a 7-8 to 3-5 win over Enniscrone/Kilglass at Oxfield last Friday evening.

The girls U14 footballers begin their championship campaign on Monday next, August 13th, when they host Calry/St Joseph’s in Oxfield at 7pm.

Our U12 girls play St Michael’s at home this Friday evening at 7pm.

DRP U12 hurlers are in action this Tuesday when they welcome Castleconnor to Oxfield at 7pm. The U14 hurlers are away to Western Gaels on Friday evening in the championship.

Hard luck to Benbulben Gaels minor hurlers who lost out narrowly to Naomh Eoin on Thursday evening last in the championship on a final scoreline of  6-7 to 6-4.

Members/supporters are asked to return their club lotto tickets to any club officer, or to treasurer Mary Carway asap. The first draw of the new Lotto is scheduled for the end of the month. Tickets are still available, priced at €50 which covers you for every monthly draw over the next 12 months. You’ll also be entered in the Lotto members draw for an All-Ireland football final ticket. 

Saturday morning GAA nursery coaching at Oxfield will resume on August 18th at the usual times. New players are always very welcome.
