Our Bord na nOg youngsters had a special treat last weekend when a trip to the All Ireland Semi Finals was organised for them.   There was a great response and 2 bus loads travelled to the city and attended the Tyrone Monaghan contest.   Thanks those who worked so hard in organising the trip and to the parents travelling to help out on the day.

On the playing front our U9 and 10 girls played in a blitz in Scarden on Thursday last.  Both teams were excellent and show a continued improvement with each outing. No time to rest as they play again this Wednesday evening in St Johns at 6:45pm.   The U12 girls have shown good form all season and again hit high marks when completing the Round Robin phase of their Championship with a good win over St. Nathy's on Friday evening.  This puts us into a playoff, opposition and venue have yet to be decided. Well done to all the girls on such a good performance, and next training sessions will be particularly important.   The U16 girls have their second game of the championship this Thursday against Eoghan Rua in Scarden throw in 7pm.   This promises to be a good tie given the evenness of the teams involved in the Championship and best of luck to everyone.   Our Minor girls were again right on form last Wednesday with a strong performance against Owenmore Gaels.   Despite absences, the girls took the match by 7-19 to 7-06 and lead the league table.   Their final match in the league section is on August 22nd against St Nathys.

On the boys side, there was no luck as the U16’s suffered a 3-11 to 1-10 defeat to Drumcliffe Rosses Point and now need a victory against Ballymote Bunninadden in their next match to continue in the Championship.   The U14 squad are in action on Thursday when they host neighbours Coolera.   Our Senior men did not have a good day this weekend against Tubbercurry, falling by 2-15 to 0-11.   The guys started slowly and were playing catch-up throughout against a determined Tubbercurry side.  The couple of weeks break until the next match will be welcome and no doubt the guys will show the type of strong form we are used to seeing from them next time out.

Preparations for the “24 Hour Relay Run” Fundraiser are in full swing and weekly exercise sessions are underway.    There has been a great response and anyone wanting to join in atthis stage is welcome to contact David Keane or Niall Murray.   People can run, jog or walk their 2 x 1-hour legs of the 24 hour event which will be based in Mitchell Curley Park.    The event will start at 7pm on Friday 14th September and continue through the night to finish at 7pm Saturday 15th September
