Monday evening sees our boys U16 footballers play St Molaise Gaels in the U16 ‘A’ championship final in Scarden. Throw-in is at 6:15pm. The team and management would appreciate big club support for this big occasion for our emerging U16 footballers who have worked extremely hard to reach this stage of the championship.

Our senior men’s footballers will bid to preserve their senior championship status this Saturday when they play St John’s in the Belfry SFC relegation final in Scarden at 4:30pm.

Our ladies intermediate footballers resume their championship campaign this Sunday morning when they play Coolera/Strandhill in Oxfield at 10am.

Our U14 boys played their Championship semi-final last Thursday evening against a strong Easkey/St Farnans side.  Despite being ahead at half time, our inability to take scores in the second half in particular resulted in a defeat with a score line of 5-4 to 5-12. While this marks the end of mixed year for our U14 boys in which they didn’t really do themselves justice in either league or championship, the boys are already looking forward to making amends next year.

Our U13 boys team had an excellent win away to Shamrock Gaels on Sunday morning in the first game of their Féile qualification group. This saw the younger U14s and the older U12s combine forces for the first time this year and they produced some excellent free-flowing football to earn a convincing win against a very good Shamrock Gaels team with a final score of 6-12 to 11-10 . The team plays Eastern Harps in Scarden his Tuesday evening at 6:15pm.

The club will be holding a special event in Oxfield this Saturday morning (Sept 22nd) in Oxfield at 10:30am to acknowledge the support of the various local businesses who have purchased a pitchside billboard along our main pitch. Nursery parents and guardians are very welcome to join us. Tea, coffee, refreshments will be served. The first draw for our new Club Lotto 2018/2019 will also be made in Oxfield on Saturday morning. Nursery coaching continues at the usual times.

Please note that the main pitch at Oxfield is currently closed to training and matches for the next two weeks following recent sanding, vertical drainage, and grass seeding. The temporary closure will enable us to get the full value of the maintenance work done.

There is still time to support our new Club Lotto draw before the opening draw this Saturday 22nd. Tickets cost €50 and guarantee you entry for 11 monthly draws. The tickets are available to buy from any club officer.

If you missed the opening episodes of the new GAA Underdogs series on TG4, our own Niall Canning has been one of the stars of the show. Episode 3 is on this Thursday night at 9:30pm. Tune in!

Save the date: The club is hosting a Boston Tea Party at the Radisson Hotel on Sunday, October 28th (bank holiday weekend). More details soon.
