St. Farnan's/ St. Pat's won the Under 16 C Championship final when they defeated Coolera/ Strandhill on Tuesday last in Scarden by 4-12 to 1-14.
This was a very competitive game of football with both sides giving of their best to achieve a win. Jim Davis opened the scoring with a point from play for St. Farnan's/ St. Pat's. Coolera/ Strandhill dominated the next period of play  scoring 1-5 to 0-2. The attack led by Josh Gilligan in midfield posed a lot of difficulties for St. Farnan's/ St. Pat's defence. A goal by Thomas Cawley however narrowed the gap and a second from a penalty by Canice Mulligan meant at half time the score was St. Farnan's/ St. Pat's 2-4, Coolera/ Strandhill 1-8.
After the break Fionn Connolly levelled matters with a point from play. St. Farnan's/ St. Pat's dominated the scoring and with twelve minutes remaining led 3-11 to 1-9. Coolera/ Strandhill never gave up and scored five unanswered points to narrow the gap to a single goal. St. Farnan's/ St. Pat's sealed victory with a goal from Jim Davis and the last point of the game from Thomas Cawley. It was a well deserved win but to their credit Coolera/ Strandhill competed very well with great performances from a number of players. The  C championship cup was presented to joint Captains Conor Keaveney and Fionn Connolly.
