Well done to Rachel Quigley, Michelle McNamara and the Sligo ladies team who produced a fine performance in Cloonacool last Sunday to beat Roscommon in Division 3 of the national football league. The ladies are in promotion contention as they head to Tullamore this Sunday to play Offaly in their penultimate league game.

A big thank-you to everyone who joined us for the Sligo St Patrick’s Day celebrations last Sunday. A gallery of images from the day is available to view on the club’s Facebook page. Following the parade, a very enjoyable afternoon was had in Harry’s Bar and Bistro at the club’s annual Family Hot Pot event. Sincere thanks to Mary Power and her team of chefs who provided a range of delicious meals throughout the day. Thanks to everyone who supported the event.

Hard luck to Eoghan Smith and the Summerhill College senior footballers who were beaten by Roscommon CBS in the Connacht final last weekend. It was nonetheless a commendable achievement for this young team to reach the provincial decider.

Our senior men’s footballers play their first competitive match of 2019 this Saturday when they host Owenmore Gaels in a Benson Cup quarter-final at Oxfield. Throw-in is at 4:30pm.

The Sligo GAA club championship draws for 2019 take place this Thursday in the Belfry Bar, Sligo at 8pm. The club has teams in both the senior and junior A championships this year. The draws will be broadcast live on Ocean FM from 8-9pm.

The ladies intermediate footballers are scheduled to play their opening Division 2 game of the new season on Sunday, March 31st in Oxfield against Shamrock Gaels at 11am. The ladies are in a six-team division this season along with Eoghan Rua, Curry, Owenmore Gaels and St Michael’s.

The club’s monthly meeting for March takes next Monday 25th in Oxfield at 9pm.

Saturday morning coaching for our younger footballers born between 2009 and early 2015 this Saturday at Rathcormac NS (outdoors). After a number of weather postponements recently, coaching for our youngest age group (players born 2013, 2014 and early 2015) will begin this Saturday (March 23rd) at 9:45am. The session will last 45 mins. New players are very welcome to come along and give it a try.

Our boys U16 footballers play Ballymote/Buninadden this Sunday in the league at Corran Park, with a 12pm throw-in.

The Oxfield Centre committee is looking to gather Oxfield memorabilia e.g. photos, events, documentation, programmes etc. as part of an ongoing History of Oxfield Centre project.
