Minor
Boys share the spoils in season opener
An
amalgamation of Owenmore Gaels and St. Johns to Connolly Park last Bank Holiday
Monday against Tourlestrane in the league where they drew 1-8 to 0-11. A draw a fair result in an entertaining game.
There is potential in this squad when they get to know each other better. Well
done lads
U16
Boys open their League Campaign
U16
Boys League Result: St. Pats 4-05 Owenmore Gaels 7-09.
The
U16 boys got their league campaign off to a positive start after taking two
points from their first league game away to St. Pats today.
The
halftime scoreline of 3-01 to Pats and 2-06 to Owenmore Gaels showed a tight
game as both teams matched each other score for score with Owenmore having the
wind in the first half. Well taken goals by Conor Sweeney and John Taheny
helped OMG take the lead into the second half.
Two
goals in quick succession at the start of the second half allowed some
breathing space between the sides after some fine displays of teamwork and
finishing by Paul Mahon and Ryan Quigley. Pats converted a couple of well
worked scoring chances at the end but it wasn't enough to catch the Owenmore
Gaels boys.
A
massive team effort and relentless work rate in the second half by all players
in windy conditions. Well done to the lads. They play Coolera/Strandhill next
week.
Team
vs St. Pats: Killian Barrett, Dylan Clarke, Adam Moran, Dillon Walsh, Ryan
Quigley, Mark Anderson, Ryan McMorrow, Paul Mahon, Aaron Mullen, Kyle Mullen,
Daire Callaghan, John Taheny, Conor Sweeney. Subs: Jack Redmond for Conor
Sweeney.
