Congrats to Eoghan Smith, Lee Cummins and the Sligo minor footballers who beat Down by a point last Saturday in Clones to lift the Ulster minor shield title. Eoghan’s dad Jimmy is part of the Sligo management team too.

Big congrats to our senior club footballer Michelle McNamara who has received a Women’s Gaelic Player Association Scholarship for 2019 - one of only 26 recipients in the country. Michelle, along with Rachel Quigley and Sinéad Regan will be part of the Sligo women’s gaelic football panel who play Roscommon this Saturday at 12:30pm in Longford in their Division 3 NFL semi-final. The game will be broadcast live onoceanfm.ie.

Our ladies intermediate footballers were well beaten by Eastern Harps on Sunday morning in the Spring Cup.

The club had two representatives - Rianne Smith and Izzy Henry - on the Sligo under 14 team which played Roscommon on Saturday in the Connacht ‘B’ championship final. While the game ended in defeat for the Sligo girls, it was a fine achievement to reach the decider.

Hard luck to the club players involved with Sligo under 16 girls team who were beaten in their provincial final last weekend

Our girls under 16 footballers began their league campaign last Wednesday evening with a 2-13 to 2-6 win away to Eastern Harps in Keash. They play Calry/St Joseph’s at Oxfield next Thursday evening.

The boys minor footballers opened their league campaign with an encouraging one-point win against Coolera/Strandhill on Friday evening - the DRP lads winning by 3-7 to 0-15. Next up is a trip to Coola on Easter Monday to play Shamrock Gaels at 6:30pm.

The under 16 footballers play Tubbercurry/Cloonacool in the league this Wednesday evening at 7pm in Oxfield.

Our boys under 21 football teams travel to west Sligo this Tuesday evening to play league games against Easkey/St Farnan’s at 6:30pm.

DRP under 12 hurlers lost out narrowly to Calry/St Joseph’s in their league game last week, by five scores to four

Well-known Tyrone GAA coach Peter Donnelly conducted two coaching workshops for the DRP club coaches last Friday night and Saturday morning. We are very grateful to Peter for the time he gave us last weekend. Thanks to all the coaches and parents who attended the session

Our under 8 and under 10 footballers played their first blitz of the new season at Scarden last Wednesday evening with games against St Mary’s and St Molaise Gaels.
