Connolly Park out of Service
Work has commenced at Connolly Park to restore the playing
surfaces. The pitches have been scarified. In the coming weeks they will be
sanded, vertidrained and stitch-seeded. The pitches will be closed for 4-6
weeks (weather dependant) to all activity. We will be accommodated in
Ballisodare and other venues during this period, thanks to all for their
patience and understanding during this time.
Benson Cup Final
Benson Cup final: Owenmore Gaels 0-9 St. Farnans 0-10
The game played in a wind swept Scarden was always going to be a tight affair
between two evenly matched teams. The Gaels registered the 1st score of the game
through a free from Ryan Philips after 2 mins, playing into a very strong wind
we knew scoring chances were going to be a premium and we need to take every
oppurtunity we would get.St.Farnans got on plenty of ball in the 1st half and
used the wind to great effect going in at half time 7-1 up.It was a very poor
performance from the Gaels in 1st half, the only real player making any impact
was Garrett Lavin. At half time there was 3 substitutions made and they Gaels
kicked into action.Kevin Healy got 2 points from play in the 1st 3 mins, the
Gaels were winning the battle around the middle and were well on top, then the
referee Barry Judge gave Brian Mahon a 2nd yellow 8 mins into the 2nd half for
what was harsh enough to give a free never mind a booking, the 14 men were riled
by this and up the ante another notch,Ryan Philips scored 2 more from 45 metres
out to put 2 between the them,Colin Smith added another about 10 mins later to
put the minimum in it.St.Farnans then scored an incredible point against the
wind,Jaime Callaghan made a mazy run from corner back to peg it back to 1,a few
mins later Farnans added another,Philips tagged on 2 more points for the gaels
to bring it all square and time nearly up.The Gaels had a few oppurtunitys but
poor execution and shot selection we couldn't get our noses in front. With time
up Farnans wont the ball from their kick and worked it up to our 21 yard line
when they were awarded a free, they scored with 2 minutes of added time to
play. The Gaels had one more opportunity but unfortunately it went wind. After
the stirring second half comeback fell short as we lost out by the minimum at
Scarden. Thanks to the great support we again received.

final where they looked to keep their winning streak intact. Please see our
facebook page for match result!
U14 Girls
Our U14 girls who
made it four wins in four in the league last Tuesday away to St. Michael's. After taking a
commanding lead in the first half the girls played some lovely football. Even
though we had some notable absentees on the night, the 19 girls present all
played their part. While making 4 changes at the same time late in the second
half which took our girls a while to adjust to meaning that St Michael's fought back to take a 1 point lead with less than a minute
to go. However, these girls are a credit to themselves and quickly added a
point and two goals to run out winners 6-9 to 6-3.
U12 Boys
Hard luck to
the U12 A & B boys who narrowly lost out Ballymote/Bunninaddan during the
