Marys eased into the semifinals in Connolly Park on Sunday but for 45 minutes this was an excellent encounter with scores coming from all angles. The conditions were a very greasy pitch with a good bit of rain but this only added to the excitement. It was 0-4 all after 15 minutes with Rooney, Breheny and Coen on the mark for Mary's whilst Barry Gorman had 3 and Nathan Mullen another for the south Sligo side.

Marys moved ahead by 3 in the next 5 minutes but Niall Connolly and 2 Barry Gorman scores brought them back level.Breheny put Marys in front by 1 but then Mullinabreena hit 1-2 without reply. Stephen Connolly scored a good point from play, Marys won the kickout however they were disposed in the opposition half and a quick counter attack saw Connolly again going for the score from 30 metres out. Driving the ball with the outside of the boot it dipped in under the crossbar for a goal. Barry Gorman drove hard and over 30 seconds later when the Marys defence were in disarray. It looked like Mullinabreena would be going in at the break with a 4 point lead but in the third minute of first half injury time Marys broke through and despite messing up the first chance of a goal Gerard O'Kelly Lynch managed to palm the bal to the net leaving the sides separated by a point 1-9 v 1-8 to Mullinabreena.

Against the slight breeze Mullinabreena made an excellent start to the half with points from Niall Connolly, Nathan Mullen and an excellent point from out on the sideline from Barry Gorman. Marys came back with a killer blow of 2 goals in 30 seconds. A long ball in earlier had seen Kyle Cawley catch but fall at the wrong time with the defender playing in front. 1 minute later a similar ball saw Cawley catch behind the full back turn and drive to the net. From the following 3 Mullinabreena kickouts Marys scored 1-2 with Mark Breheny getting the goal. Mullinabreena replied with another Barry Gorman point but points from Cawley, Rooney and Coen increased the gap and with Mullinabreena comitting to attack their defence was wide open to the counter attack and Marys punished them with Gerard O'Kelly Lynch getting a hat trick and Mark McGoldrick and Stephen Coen adding others before the final whistle.
