Well done to our Intermediate team who qualified for the county final with a hard earned victory over Easkey at Tourlestrane on Saturday evening.
While special mention must go to D Cafferky for his two first half goals and A Frain for a magnificent performance in the middle of the field, this was essentially a team performance which saw some outstanding tackling ,blocking and turnovers from the defence and economic use of possession by the forwards who only recorded 3 wides for the hour and made best use of the limited chances that came their way.
This was best exemplified in the dying moments when following a great solo run by N O Donnell, substitute C Brett split the posts for what was only our third point in the second half, having led 2-6 to 0-5 at the break. This lead was extended early in the second half with points from R O'Dowd and K Kerins but from there to the finish it was a backs to the wall effort as Easkey threw everthing at us and it took a brilliant save from J McDonagh and some staunch defending after the Sea blues had cut the lead after a E Mullen goal was followed by two points to set up that grandstand finish where we just about deservedly prevailed to qualify for next Sunday's county final against Geevagh
