Dinner Dance

We enjoyed a great night at our annual club dinner dance last Saturday evening. In the wonderful surroundings of the Diamond Coast Hotel, we were delighted to welcome Corofin’s Dylan Wall as our special guest - both of Dylan’s parents come from our parish.

Arguably the moment of the night was a prolonged standing ovation for the great PJ Kavanagh, who was the Hall of Fame award winner. Whether it was in the black and amber of Enniscrone/Kilglass or the black and white of Sligo, PJ always excelled between the four white lines and it was fitting that his previous and indeed continued contribution to our club be recognized.

Johnny Mullaney’s commitment to the club was also honoured as he was chosen as the Club Person of the Year. Johnny’s devotion in particular to looking after our grounds at Quigabar is widely appreciated and commended by all of us within the club.

The Player of the Year award (The Freeman Memorial Shield) went to Cian Mulrooney for his consistent high standards on the field throughout 2019, while Josh Ellis won the Young Player of the Year award (McManus Memorial Shield) for his performances in 2019.

Our Mothers and Others also held their awards on the night: Carmel O’Neill was chosen as the Club Person of the Year; Fidelma Starrs won the Best Newcomer while Caroline Roberts collected the Most Dedicated Player Award. The Mothers and Others make a valuable contribution to our club and we are delighted that their group continues to go from strength to strength.

Our thanks go to Dylan Wall, the Diamond Coast Hotel and all who attended.

Here’s to 2020.
