Last Friday, the club along with St John’s GAA present a cheque for €32,000 to Bridget Kerrigan of Sligo Cancer Support Centre. The proceeds were from #GoTheExtraMile. The community involvement and participation was simply phenomenal. Thank you to everybody who walking, jogged or donated. When we stepped foot inside the Support Centre on Wine Street last Friday, we realised how much this money is valued and appreciated by the local charity, especially considering that they rely on fundraisers like these to cover 80% of their yearly expenses.  There are three photo galleries of all the DRP pictures from the day itself is available on the club’s Facebook page.

Big congrats to our own Michelle McNamara, who was named as DCU’s Moynihan Cup Footballer of the Year for 2020. A fitting and well deserved accolade.

Full contact training can resume this week for club teams. Our senior men’s and women’s, minor boys and girls, and under 16 boys and girls teams are resuming training this week. The remaining teams will resume in the coming weeks.

The way we train and use Oxfield and Rathcormac has changed. For the latest Covid information regarding the return to play, please visit our dedicated webpage on the club’s website. The address is www.drp.gaa.ie/covid19. It will provide useful info and links for all players, coaches, parents and guardians.

There are two items that need to be completed before players, coaches and anyone involved returns to GAA activity
1. Health questionnaire
2. E-learning module.
The links to both items are available our Covid-19 page on the club website.

Club registration for 2020 remains open on the website drp.gaa.ie

Anyone who has not registered yet is asked to do so as soon as possible as club activity resumes. Please note that  onnly registered members/players will be allowed to access to training and games. If you’ve any queries, please contact club registrar Jimmy O’Brien.

The club has, for now, postponed online registration for the Oxfield Cúl Camp. It is scheduled to take place from Aug 17-21st, but club officers want to satisfy themselves over the next two weeks that the camp can run safely at Oxfield, as this Cúl Camp attracts particularly large numbers each year. We will update you as soon as that determination is made.

The draws for the Sligo men’s senior, intermediate and junior club football and hurling championships will be made live on Ocean FM this Wednesday night (July 1st) at 9:05pm. Sligo LGFA will also ratify the details for the women’s club championships this week. The DRP men will be in the senior championship again this year, while the ladies will be one of five clubs contesting the intermediate championship.
