SENIOR FOOTBALL
Our Burns Cars sponsored senior team got off to a great start in The Connacht Gold Intermediate Championship when they defeated Castleconnor by 2 - 10 to 0 - 11 in Easkey on Sunday afternoon. Playing with the aid of the breeze in the first half Castleconnor led by 0 - 6 to 0 - 5 at the break but our lads came strong in the second half and goals from Fiacra Grennan and Mark Gerrity plus the accurate point-scoring of Brian Mc Gowan and substitute Ryan Mc Manus ensured that we came away with a victory to head the table in Group 2 after the first round of games.
This was an encouraging start for PJ Mc Garrigle and his selectors as he had a number of players making their championship debuts.
