Congratulations to Sligo corner back and captain, Charlie Harrison on his selection on the GPA All
Stars team completing a great double for this great player. Hard luck to David Kelly, who missed out
again but no doubt his day will come. Also hard luck to Aidan Costello, who was also nominated.

Congratulation to St Nathys ladies on winning a Connaugh Club awardrecently.

Heartiest congratulations to Sligo Rovers on a great cup final win in the Aviva Stadium on Sunday
finally getting revenge for that terrible loss to the same opposition in Dalymount in 1978 when an
extremely harsh penalty decision cost Sligo the game. This time it was penalties, which decided
the outcome but fortunately Sligo were the victors with the goal keeper saving all Shams penalties
a unique feat. There was no doubt but Sligo, even without 2 of their most talented players, were
best team on the day. It was great to see such a wonderful turnout for Sligo – many of them the
same people , who were in Croke Park for the league final , Castlebar for the Connaught final and
Pearse stadium for the All Ireland Junior final showing the great cross over in support for all Sligo
sport.

2010 has been a good year for Sligo sport with our Gaelic team winning their league in Croke Park,
the Sligo Juniors winning an All Ireland, success at under 16 and St Attractas reaching an All Ireland
Colleges final and Summerhill winning Connaught title. We were very unlucky to lose Connaught
under 21 and Senior finals. Then Sligo Rovers won the FAI cup and EA Sports cup and Mary Cullen
recorded some memorable performances in Athletics. So that is an impressive array of success for
Sligo this year.
