Backing Sligo’s Revival!
A chairde Shligigh,
2022 has been busy for Gaelic games in Sligo with progress on all fronts. We have seen competitive success for our U16 and U20 footballers and U17 hurlers as well as tangible progress by our senior football and hurling without actually winning a trophy.
As the playing season ends, we are immediately focussed again on the background work that creates opportunities for players, county teams and teams throughout the county.
The progress of 2022 has been years in the making through the coaching and development structures and the capabilities built up in the past decade. We need to continue to build on what we have been doing, to improve the opportunities available and to respond to the demands of players, clubs and families across the county.
That is the role of Club Sligo - to aid the development work of Sligo GAA, supporting the development of coaching and the provision of opportunities for our young players helping them to grow and develop from their early teens through to adulthood and the competitive environment.
We want to give every young player the opportunity to be the best they can be, be that playing for their county if that opportunity presents itself but also with their clubs.
This update summarises what has been achieved this year and a flavour of the potential for further growth and success. We want Club Sligo to grow and now that the restrictions of the pandemic are behind us, to become an opportunity for supporters of Sligo to meet and follow their teams and become more connected again to the occasions and the community of Gaelic games in Sligo.
We hope you enjoy reading this update and that you will be happy to commit to continuing your support for Club Sligo into 2023 and beyond.
