Farnan’s 6-17; Ballymote 0-8
On a fine calm
evening in St. Farnan’s Park, this game proved to be all too easy for the home
side.
Shane Feeney opened
the scoring for St Farnan’s with a point from play, quickly followed by a goal
from David Culkin.
By the time
Ballymote got their first score in the fourteenth minute from a Liam Óg Gormley
free, St. Farnan’s had moved on to 1-6, with points added by Declan Cawley,
Kieran Devaney and Shane Feeney.
With a dominant Nicholas
Higgins preventing any ball from passing midfield the West Sligo side led 1-8
to 0-1 at the first water break.
A second goal from
Shane Feeney after the water break was quickly followed by a third, this time
from a long range Andrew McMunn shot which gave the goalie no chance.
Liam Óg got Ballymote's
second point and followed with another from a difficult angle before Farnan’s hit
back with further three points in reply before Gormley got his fourth point of
the half after a good passage of play for Ballymote.
to be replaced by Kieran Kilgannon St. Farnan’s further
added to their tally when a Declan Cawley pass led to a second Shane Feeney
goal to leave the half time the score read St. Farnan’s 4-11, Ballymote 0-4.
Sub Kieran
Kilgannon, who had replaced David Culkin shortly before half time got the first
point of the second half for St. Farnan’s who also introduced Jason Mc Guinness
for Kieran Devaney and Enda Mc Dermott for John McNulty at half time.
Ballymote also
introduced Jonathan Crosby in this half and the East Sligo side had its best
spell in the game almost matching St Farnan’s scoring in the third quarter

Ballymote's first point of the second half. A goal chance ensued shortly
after, but was blocked by Fergus Hargadon. Gary Conlon did manage a fine point
from play to leave the score at the second water break - St. Farnan’s 4-14,
Ballymote 0-6.St.
Towards the end, Farnan’s
had the luxury of emptying the subs bench with both Don Keeneghan and James Mc
Gowan replacing Shane Feeney and Conor Feeney respectively.
James Sweeney added
a point for Ballymote before Liam Óg's free was saved on the line by Karl
Hannon to deny Ballymote a much needed goal.
It was St. Farnan’s
who finished this quarter on a high with two goals from substitute Don
Keeneghan. Ballymote's final point came from Conor Mc Getterick.
The result of this
game was never in doubt as St. Farnan's cruised to victory - their second win
in the championship having defeated St. Michael's last Sunday. Ballymote, by contrast
