Drumcliffe/Rosses Point Club notes Monday 31st March clubnotes
Hard luck to the Sligo women's gaelic footballers, and the DRP trio of Sinead Regan, Izzy Henry and Rianne Smith, who lost out to Fermanagh in last Sunday's Division 4 league semi-final. Our senior women's footballers begin their Connacht Gold Division 1 league campaign this Sunday with a trip to south Sligo to play CT Gaels at 10:30am. Our junior women's team also begin their Division 4 campaign this weekend, with a home match against St Mary's.

Good luck to Cian Lally, Eoghan Smith and the Sligo senior footballers in Castlebar on Sunday, as they take on Mayo in the opening round of the Connacht Senior Football Championship at 3:30pm.

Our senior men's lost their opening Senior Spring League Group A match last Sunday to Enniscrone/Kilglass, on a final scoreline of 3-16 to 3-9. We host Shamrock Gaels in match 2 this Saturday evening in Oxfield at 6pm.

Sligo under-20 footballers continue their Connacht Championship campaign this Wednesday evening with a home match against Galway (Markievicz Park at 6:15pm). Good luck to the five DRP men involved:
Rían O'Callaghan
Donnchadh O'Brien
Eamon O'Mahony
Eamon Keane
Michael Carroll.

The Sligo minors continue their championship campaign this Friday evening, also against Galway, in Tubbercurry at 6:15pm. Good luck to Thomas O'Brien, who is part of the Sligo panel for that game.

A mention for Grainne O'Hara, Chloe McDonagh and Ceola Voight who are part of the Sligo LGFA county U16 squad who began their championship campaign last weeekend against Roscommon. The Sligo team is also managed by DRP's Paul McDonagh.

We have four DRP players on the Sligo LGFA U14 panel, Mia McLoughlin, Avie O'Brien, Freya McCaffrey and Joy Flanagan, who played games against Mayo and Leitrim last Saturday in Bekan.

A big thank-you to everybody who supported the DRP Cake Sale and Raffle in Rathcormac last weekend. Special thanks to our fundraising committee for their great work in organising it all. Congrats to all our raffle prizewinners. They are:  Liam Feeney

The inaugural DRP Walkathon will take place at Oxfield on Good Friday, April 18th, from 4pm to Easter Saturday, April 19th , at 4pm. We are looking for 24 groups of 10 walkers to take a one-hour walking slot on the Easter weekend, to help raise funds for the club. Sponsorship cards will be distributed to participating walkers - but most of all, it's going to be good fun. If you'd like to organise a group of walkers, or join an existing group, contact Niall on 0872678226.

Saturday morning All-Stars coaching continues this and every Saturday morning at Rathcormac NS playing fields at the usual times (9:45am and 10:45am). A welcome talk for parents of new (first-time joiner) players will be held in the School Hall on Saturday at 10am. All welcome. Special thanks to Ireland rugby international (and former DRP player) Nicole Fowley, who paid an impromptu visit to our girls U8 and U10 coaching sessions last weekend.

The club's monthly meeting for April takes place on Monday night, April 7th, in Oxfield at 8:30pm sharp.

A special word of congrats to Pat McKeown, who has stepped down from his role as secretary of the soccer club after many years in the position. Pat has been an outstanding stalwart of the blotto - which raises funds for ourselves and the soccer club - for over 30 years.
