Sligo GAA announce Sponsors for 2015

Sligo GAA launched their Competition and Team sponsors at a Press night in the Radisson Hotel on Thursday night last.

The event focused on the many local sponsors, some new and some established names who will be supporting the County Board in 2015.

County Chairman Joe Taaffe welcomed invited guests and representatives from all the sponsors to the event and thanked them for their investment in Sligo GAA.

Peter Greene, Co.Board Treasurer went on to outline details of the Sponsorships for the coming year.

He opened proceedings by thanking the Radisson Hotel and IT Sligo for their continued support of the Senior, Junior and U-21 teams in 2015.

He also thanked Terry Jackson from KUKRI for their continued support as the main Kit & Leisurewear supplier to Sligo GAA. He added that many of the Kukri Jerseys and Leisurewear items that are available to supporters through the website will also be available at a special Merchandise area in Markievicz Park for the final NFL Match against Armagh on Sunday 5th April.

Earlier this month the draws were made for the Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championships and once again the Quinn Family have kindly continued their support for these competitions for the 6th year in a row.

Their Sponsorship of the Belfry Senior Championship, the Kennedy’s Intermediate Championship and the Toffs Junior Championships has been extremely successful with attendances at last year’s Championships increasing to over 20,000.

He continued by acknowledging the continued support of Devenish Nutrition which has enabled the Minor team under Team manager Aiden Rooney develop his squad in preparation for this year's League and Championship.

Devenish Nutrition who are now a Global brand have a Sligo connection through Richard Kennedy and Sligo Co Board are delighted to link up once again with this successful Company for the coming season.

He went on to thank Kevin McGlynn of the Best Western Southern Hotel who has accommodated the Minor team on a number of occasions with use of their pool & facilties and for support of team nutrition.

The Senior Leagues will once again be sponsored by Fureys of Sligo who are the main transport provider for the County teams.

The four Senior League competitions cover approx.200 matches, involves 40 teams and caters for over 1100 players.

Peter Greene added that ‘’this Sponsorship will provide us with the opportunity to improve our exposure in the media and give these important competitions a higher profile in 2015’’.

He went on to welcome another Sponsor who has renewed his support for the County  U-16 team for the coming season in local businessman Padraig O’Dowd from Gurteen.

Padraig’s Company O’Dowd Distribution & Storage will enable the U-16 Team prepare for the Ted Webb and Manning Cup competitions and assist Manager Conor Gormley and his team with their training programme.

Peter Greene went on to say that another valued Sponsor Expert Electrical will continue their support for the Underage League & Championship competitions in 2015 again and this was much appreciated.

Turning to some of our support Sponsors he thanked Niall Gallogly of Gallogly Catering for their continued assistance to our Senior team and also to Ross Palmer and Fastcom for the provision of broadband and WI FI in Markievicz Park & the County Board Offices

Two of our established Sponsors AIB and the Sligo Champion were acknowledged for their ongoing support for the Annual All Star Awards and Peter Greene thanked Fran Faulkner Branch Manager AIB Sligo and John Feerick General Manager of the Sligo Champion in this regard.

He also acknowledged the financial support provided by Ronan Waters of Shoot the Crows for our Senior Hurling team sponsorship.

Before announcing their final Sponsor on the night, Peter Greene acknowledged Connolly VW, Sligo who are Sponsors of the County Kit Van.

The final Sponsorship announced on the night was from another established business in Sligo.

Peter Greene said ‘’the County Board were delighted to announce that Aurivo Co Operative incorporating the well-known Connacht Gold Brand will continue their Sponsorship for 2015’’.

He went on to say that ‘’Aurivo with 700 employees and almost 10,000 members are an integral part of community life in Sligo and accordingly their support for Gaelic games in Sligo is much appreciated’’

And in his closing remarks he announced that all Sponsors for 2015 would be receiving a complimentary hospitality pack form Sligo GAA comprising of two tickets for the final NFL match against Armagh, two tickets for the Sligo GAA Race Day on 20th May and some Sligo GAA merchandise.
