St John’s Lotto

The Lotto Jackpot now stands at E10,500.  Tickets for the next draw on Sat April 29th can be purchased in Mc Morrow’s Shop, Cairns Rd. ;  Crozon Inn  ;  Clifford Electrical, Carraroe ;  The Blue Lagoon, Riverside ;  Canning’s  House and Garden, Cornageeha  and Molly Fulton’s Restaurant , Carraroe  or from club members. Thanks to all who support us.

Under Age Coaching

Until July 6th on each Saturday football coaching will be provided by qualified coaches from 10.00 to 11.30 on the Cleveragh GAA pitch ( Opposite the Sports Complex ). The age groups catered for are U8 and U10 Boys and U8, U10 and U12 Girls.    The Under 12 Boys coaching is held on Monday evenings from 6.00 to 7.00.  New players are very welcome to join. Club members must reside in the Parishes of St Annes or Carraroe which is the club area irrespective of which Primary School the child attends.

Senior Football

The St Johns-Burns Skoda sponsored- Division 2 League team campaign continued on Sunday when they took on the challenge of Owenmore Gaels in Connolly Park in Round 4 and came away with a comfortable victory on a scoreline of 5-16 to 0-5. The St Johns players on duty were C Mc Govern; E Roche, D Burke, N Hayes; O Cox, P Mc Namara, R Fahy; S Stenson(0-3),J Murphy(3-4); C Keaney(0-2),B Mc Gowan(1-0),D Rooney(0-5); C Greene, F Grennan(0-1), S Kilcawley; R Mc Manus(0-1), I Rossiter, J Mc Nulty, C Hough, A Kerr(0-1). The next fixture is on Saturday next at 7.00 in Stenson Park against Castleconnor.

In the draw for the Intermediate Championship St Johns have been placed in a group of three with West division sides St Patricks and Enniscrone/Kilglass. These games will take place in August.

Minor Football

The Minor team had their first fixture of the year when they played Castleconnor in St Brendans Park on Thursday last. They were narrowly beaten on a 1-11 to 1-9 scoreline. The players on duty in this 11-a-side competition were  J Doyle;  D Holmes,  M Kilcawley,              S Egan(0-3), J Sayers, A Grace(0-1), S Kelly(0-1), J Carty, D Lynch-Mc Morrow, J Walsh(0-1),   P Hanbury(0-2), Subs D Gray and R Gorman(1-0).   Their next outing is on Thursday next at 7.00 in Stenson Park against local rivals Drumcliffe-Rosses Point.

Under 16 Football

St Johns had a great victory over Owenmore Gaels in their Div 3 league game in Stenson Park on a scoreline of 3-12 to 1-9.

Under 14 Football

The U14 team having won their first two games faced near neighbours Calry-St Josephs in Stenson Park on Friday last and were on the wrong side of a 3-4 to 3-14 scoreline. The visitors got off to a great start and led by 2-1 to 2-9 at half time While this was a disappointing performance by our lads we know that a big improvement will come from this K and D Construction-sponsored team. Under 12 Girls Football

The under 12 girls team having  got off to a great start in their league with victories over St Marys and Calry-St Josephs, suffered their first defeat of the campaign when they went down to a strong St Molaise Gaels team on Friday last. Our girls never gave up trying right to the final whistle. Well done.  On Mon 24th they are away to Coolera-Strandhill and on Friday 28th they are at home to Drumcliffe-Rosses Point with both games having a 7.00 throw-in time.

Under 12 Boys

The under 12 boys teams will take on visitors St Molaise Gaels in Stenson Park this Tuesday evening at 7.00 in both Divisions 1 and 3. We wish them well.

Under 8 / Under 10s  

The St Johns under 8s and 10s take on their counterparts from Castleconnor on Wed 26th in Stenson Park at 7.00 in the Go Games.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             St John’s Magazine
