Dermot Molloy Hurling League

The senior team lost out by the narrowest of margins to Easkey in the second round of the Dermot Molloy at Quigabar on 1st April. In what was a tightly contested affair, our task was made more difficult following the dismissal of one of our players after 15mins . The extra space as a result was a crucial factor in our neighbours gaining the upper hand, but unfortunately we couldn’t find that equalising score despite best efforts. Final score was Western Gaels 2-4, Easkey 0-11. Our next match is a home game against St. Mary’s Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday 15th April. Throw in time TBC.

U-14 Hurling League

In our first competitive fixture at U-14 level for a number of years, our young hurlers came up against Naomh Eoin last Thursday (5th April) in Templeboy. Playing against a strong wind in the first half, our lads found it difficult to get scores and went in at half time very much in the game only 4 points down. The lads embraced the elements in the second half and soon found some great rhythm. Some great scores were seen from Adam Rolston, James O’Connell and Ethan Carden, but there were great performances all over the field. Our young crop came out on top on a score line of 3-5 to 1-1. Team on duty: Edwin Rolston, Darragh Mulroonry, Matthew Mortimer, Stephen Conway, Adanm Rolston, James O’Connell, Adam Conway, Brian Duffy, Ethan Carden. Subs: Lee Gallagher, Brian Coggins, Ryan McHugh, Tiernan Coggins. The next outing is an away game to Benbulben Gaels on 19th April at 7pm.

Special thanks to Mary Gordon and St. Farnan’s GAA on providing a pitch at short notice, much appreciated by all.

U-12 Hurling League
