U16 Girls
Our under 16 girls
play their final league game this evening (Tues) when they face Molaise Gaels
in Scarden at 7.00. All support would be most welcome.
Senior Hurling
Our senior hurlers have qualified for the
final of the Dermot Molloy Senior Hurling League after a hard fought four point
victory over Tourlestrane in Ransboro on Saturday evening. Trailing by a point
a half time (1-08 to 0-10), they started the second half well adding four points
without reply. The concession of two goals made for a tense finish, with the
sides level as full-time approached. A long range effort dipped under the
crossbar and a final point from Kevin Banks clinched victory on a score-line of
1-21 to 3-11.
Under 12 Girls
The under 12 girls have
qualified for the A League semi-final, after a good win over Calry/St. Joseph’s
in their final group match. Leading 6-2
at half time, the girls put in a superb third quarter, scoring nine points to
secure victory. There were very strong performances from Anna McDaniel at
centre back, Eva White and Orna Murphy in midfield and Alana Wilson led the
attack at centre forward. Others to impress were Blaine Heekin and Lulu Mooney
in defence, Ellen Walsh, Orlaith Beirne, Aoife Craddock and Lauren Healy in
attack, the latter scoring two points in the first quarter. Team; Sophie Quinn,
Laoise McKenna, Aoife Gallagher, Áine Harte, Anna McDaniel, Lulu Mooney, Eva
White (0-05), Orna Murphy (0-04), Orlaith Beirne, Alana Wilson (0-05), Ellen
Walsh, Tilly Ellwood, Lauren Healy (0-02), Grace Bailey, Aoife Craddock, Mollie

Under 14 Girls
The under 14 girls had
their second league match last Tuesday when they Played Calry/St. Joseph’s in
Ballinode. They took an early lead through an Alana Wilson point, but the home
side took control soon after, and but for some wayward shooting our girls could
have found themselves facing a sizeable deficit. To their credit, they battled
back with points from Cliodhna O’ Sullivan and Orna Murphy, before Orna scored
the first of her two goals to leave just two points between the teams at half
time. The second half was a much closer affair, and further goals from Orna,
Clodagh Martyn and Anna Callaghan saw our girls a point in front. Calry
responded however and as full time approached they added two goals to win 3-15
to 4-05. This was a brave performance from our young side. Nessa O’ Sullivan,
Lisa Kilfeather, Aoife Gormley and Mary-Kate McPartland were excellent in defence.
Cliodhna O’ Sullivan and Alana Wilson worked tirelessly in midfield while Orna
Murphy led the attack well. The girls have a break for a few weeks now before
their next match. Team; Eva White, Nessa O’ Sullivan, Aoife Gormley, Lisa
Kilfeather, Anna McDaniel, Amy Hampson, Mary-Kate McPartland, Cliodhna O’
Sullivan (0-02), Alana Wilson (0-01) Anna Callaghan (1-00), Orna Murphy (2-02),
Ellen Walsh, Rachel Gallagher, Clodagh Martyn (1-00), Luna Simeoni, Susannah
Gilligan.
Under 16 League
The under 16 boys lost out
to St. Pat’s/St. Farnan’s 1-11 to 3-13 last Monday in Ransboro. Despite the
margin of defeat, this was a game that could have gone either way right up to
the last few minutes. A little more luck and composure in front of goal and it
could have been a different result. Twice the visiting amalgamation capitalised
on missed goal opportunities for the home side to punish them with two goals of
their own. Some good scores from Liam Gilligan and Oran McDonagh and a couple
of point blank saves from Cian Connell in goals just wasn’t enough to gain
victory.
