U-21
The
Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey U-21 footballers are two from two in the U-21 A
Championship following two group wins last weekend. On Friday evening they
ended as six-point winners over Tourlestrane, 1-12 to 0-9, and they followed
that up less than 48 hours later with a 2-13 to 2-3 defeat of holders
Tubbercurry/Cloonacool at Quigabar. They are now through to the knockout stages
where they await confirmation of their next fixture.
Upcoming fixtures
Quigabar
will play host to Tourlestrane’s Connacht Senior Club Championship game against
Mayo champions Ballintubber on Sunday, November 4th. The day before,
the Sligo Intermediate Champions will go up against Leitrim representatives
Fenagh-St Cailins at the same venue.
Refereeing duties
There was a
unique double for the club in the past week on the refereeing front. At the
Sligo Senior Football final at Quigabar, our own Michael Duffy took charge and
a week later for the hurling decider at Scarden another club man, Michael
Connolly, was the man in the middle. Well done to both men on their efficient
handling of the marquee fixture in either code.
Wedding bells
Congratulations
to Mark Gordon and Annemarie Gaughan on their wedding last Saturday in Belmullet.
Sympathy
The club
extends its sympathy to the Sweeney family, Quigabar, on the passing of Lena
Sweeney last week. The club provided a guard of honour last Friday evening.
Club lapel pins
There are a
limited number of lapel pins showcasing the club crest – and importantly the
correct spelling of Enniscrone as Gaeilge agus as Béarla – available at
present. They are a quality item that would make a great present, and also show
your support for the upcoming plebiscite on the town name. They are available
from any committee member for €10.
Blotto
There was
no winner of last weekend’s blotto draw. Please note that the draw has reverted
back to its traditional Saturday night slot for the winter months.
