We wish Neil Ewing, Niall Canning and the Sligo senior footballers the very best of luck this Sunday as they begin their Allianz football league division 3 campaign against Carlow.

Big congrats to the 12 DRP girls who were part of the Ursuline College senior gaelic football panel which lifted the Sligo LGFA post primary schools cup at Kent Park last Thursday with a 1-16 to 1-5 win over Coola PPS. The team was captained by Sinéad Regan.

We will be celebrating the achievements of our underage football and hurling teams (Under 12 to minor) this Saturday night (Jan 26th), when our annual Juvenile Awards ceremony takes place in Rathcormac Hall, starting at 7:45pm. Families and friends of the players are very welcome to attend this free event.

Three players from our DRP girls U16 / minor side - Aoife, Alannah and Oda - will travel to Kenya in May to visit St Columba’s Technical College, a secondary school which is run by the Ursuline order and provides protection and education to young girls who have many personal and social challenges in their lives. The three girls hope to raise much needed funds to present to the school during their visit. They are holding a trivia quiz night in Collins Lounge, Rathcormac, on Friday, Feb 1st at 9pm.  Come along and test your knowledge - your support will be greatly appreciated.

The club’s monthly meeting for January takes place next Monday 28th in Oxfield at 9pm.

We were delighted to see local girl and former club player Nicole Fowley perform with distinction for the Ireland senior women’s rugby team last Sunday. Nicole kicked two conversions in Irelands 29-19 win against Wales in their warm-up international in Dublin. Best of luck to Nicole when the Six Nations championship begins next weekend.

Congratulations to Easkey GAA club on reaching the All-Ireland junior club football final at Croke Park next month.

The club extends its deepest sympathy to our ladies team manager Mike Healy following the passing of his mother Bridget last week.
