Our U21’s
league campaign did not get off to the ideal start on last Saturday, when we
lost our first game of the season to Tubbercurry/Cloonacool on a scoreline of
2-12 to 0-07. In challenging conditions
our young side found the going difficult against a stronger opposition, and the
timing of the 2 goals coming just before the half time break meant a difficult
task was all but beyond the lads who still kept playing to the end.
Unfortunately
it was heartbreak for the County’s senior hurlers who lost their Division 3B
league final to Longford in extra-time.
The lads overcame a substantial deficit to bring the match to extra
time, but a resurgent Longford then opened a 4 point lead which Sligo could
only close to 2 points at the final whistle.
Best wishes to all in Summerhill as they enter an important week with 2
quarter finals and a semi final down for decision.
Last
Saturday, St Marys held its annual dinner dance, and thanks to everyone
involved in organising the night. We
had a great attendance and the hard work of the organising committee was
evident in how much everyone enjoyed themselves. This Friday (March 15th) a trad
music session is being held in the Clubhouse which will commence at 9.30pm,
which promises to be another highly enjoyable social occasion. All are welcome
The
underage football program in Summerhill College Gym continues each Thursday
until March 28th. Then it is
the turn of the Saturday morning Coaching which commences on April 6th. Please note that Club membership
registration for 2019 will take place on March 20th and 27th
and from April 6th at Saturday morning training. Contact Registrars Siobhan
O’Connor 087-9056488 or Gerry Buckley 087-7848421.
