GAA President’s Awards 2019

The club is delighted to have Cian Smith join the Senior Football management team for 2019. The eldest of the four Smith brothers, Cian has tasted success for his club, Boyle, at all grades. A key member of the 2006 Roscommon Minor team that captured All Ireland glory after a 55-year gap, his football career had to be put on hold in 2007 while he successfully overcame serious illness. Cian fought his way back to football and was an integral member of the Boyle team that captured intermediate honours in 2013. Since retirement he has become heavily involved in coaching and fundraising and we welcome him to Coolera-Strandhill.

On Friday evening, Cian, along with his parents, Mike and Mary and his brothers Enda, Ronan and Donal, were awarded the Dermot Earley Family Award at the GAA President’s Awards for their long association and dedication to Boyle GAA.  Let’s hope it’s the first of many awards for Cian this year!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The club has once again entered the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Last year we won the Sports Category and would like to build on the success by having a larger representation. This year’s theme is Leprechauns and the organisers are hoping to set a world record on the day, so everyone is asked to wear Leprechaun costumes.
