A very entertaining game in Quigabar and despite the small crowd the atmosphere was good. Farnans opted to start Thomas Cawley for his first championship start in place of the experienced Declan Cawley.

10 seconds in and James Weir had taken the lead whilst also having the wind on their backs. It was all Farnans with Easkey finding it hard to get out of their half of the field. Just playing Joe McHugh and Fionn Moylan inside they were leaving a huge void which their kick passing was unable to breach. After 21 minutes Farnans were up 0-8 v 0-0 up with points from play from Mattie Lang (2), Martin Mulligan and Kevin McGee and three frees from Paddy O'Connor. Paddy also added two points from play with one coming from a huge kickout from Eamonn Kilgannon being fielded by O'Connor who turned and put over from 45m. Easkey got their first score from Rory McHugh in the 22nd minute followed by a Paddy O'Connor free who was also fouled for it.

The last 5 minutes of the half saw Easkey score 2-2 with young Fionn Moylan scoring the goals after two long kicks in caught out the Farnans defence. Joe McHugh with a free and Joe Dunphy a point meant at the break it was level 2-3 v 0-9.

Farnans started the second like the first with Paddy O'Connor being fouled and converting the free. Easkey won all the tussles in midfield for the next 15 minutes and put themselves in a game winning position with points from play from the McHugh brothers and a free from Mikie Gordon. Farnans got back into it with a point from a play by Martin Mulligan and three frees by O'Connor with the last coming from the Easkey keeper getting caught with a third man tackle in front of the goals. Joe McHugh in the 28th minute gave Easkey a lifeline when reducing to one with a long range free. In the second minute of injury time he had another long range free which was mishit and a Farnans player was adjudged to have pushed in the back when catching the ball. Mikie Gordon equalised from in front of the goals before the final whistle was blown.
