Our Senior lads played their eighth and final League game this morning with Eastern Harps providing the opposition. This was a must win game for our lads, they duly obliged by running out victors on a 2.11 to 0.12 final scoreline. This brought the Senior men onto 10 points and depending on how other results went in with a chance of 2nd place on the league and a league final place. However, both Bunninadeen and Easkey who their respective games and thus ended our chances of a top two finish.

Their attention now turns to the Intermediate Championship where they are grouped with St Molaise Gaels, Ballymote, Eastern Harps and St Pat’s.

Their first game is in Kent Park on Saturday Aug 13th at 5pm.

Our U.15 GSTM boys continued their winning ways with an away victory over Owenmore Gaels on Thursday last. Played in warm sunshine our lads lead from first whistle to last, this victory leaves them top of the table with their last group game is away to Curry on Thursday Aug 11th.

Our U.13 GSTM boys had a ding dong battle with St John’s in the “A” championship on Monday night last. Played in Stenson Park, this game had everything a championship game should have, our lads had lot of early possession and were unlucky not to be well ahead at the end of the first quarter, with some good John’s goalkeeping and the woodwork keeping the score at 0.04 to 0.03. Both sides swapped points in this exciting game before a John’s goal proved to be the difference in the end. John’s were always a point or two ahead and despite how much our lads tried they couldn’t bridge the gap. A wholehearted display from the boys, they will no doubt be rewarded later in this tough group, they are drawn with Eastern Harps and Shamrock Gaels.

Our GSTM U.17 lads were in Shield Final action against Tourlestrane on Friday evening last. Despite the wet evening this was an entertaining fixture with both sides displaying a high skill set. Tourlestrane started the brighter and with 0.03 to 0.00 ahead before two points from Dara brought the game back to a single score. Our opponents struck for two goals in quick succession and looked like powering on before our lads rallied with two goals of their from Fionn and Dara. The half time score read 2.08 to 2.04 in favour of our opponents.

Tourlestrane were the stronger side on show over the course of the hour and were worthy winners in the end, but to our lads credit they battled away to the final whistle scoring four second half goals but were second best on the night losing by seven points in the end.

Squad on the night:

Oisin Murray, Jake Cawley, Finn Heffernan, Cathal Keaney, Darragh Mastin, Alex Smith, Shane O’Connor, Lee Flanagan ©, Harry Graham, Dara Mostyn (3.04), Jamie Brehony (1.02), Fionn Healy (1.00), Jamie Keady (1.00), Sean Keaney (0.01), Eamonn Devine, James O’Connor Kerins.

Being without four / five regulars this was always going to be an uphill battle.
