Our senior men's footballers made a winning start to their Homeland Sligo Club Championship campaign on Sunday with a 0-14 to 2-5 win over Coolaney/Mullinabreena at Markievicz Park. It was a landmark day for two of our younger panel members as Paul O'Brien and Danny Cronin made their senior club championship debuts when introduced as second-half substitutes. The team now face Coolera/Strandhill in their second match of Group 2 this Sunday afternoon at Kent Park. Throw-in: 2pm.
Our junior men's footballers lost out to Tubbercurry in their opening 'B' championship game last Friday evening, on a final scoreline of 3-11 to 0-9. They travel to west Sligo this Friday evening to play Easkey at 7pm.
Well done to our junior women's footballers (2nd team) who began their Sligo LGFA junior 'C' championship at the weekend with a 4-12 to 5-6 victory over St John's at Cuilbeg. The team play St Mary's this Saturday evening at Oxfield at 7pm.

Hard luck to our girls minor footballers who suffered their first defeat in the 'A' championship last Thursday evening against Tourlestrane. Despite the loss, DRP have qualified for a county semi-final against Eoghan Rua on August 31st.
Our girls under-16 footballers have two championship games this week - against Tourlestrane and St Pat's/St Farnan's.
Our girls under-12 team one play their championship semi-final this week. Best of luck to all involved. Our under-12 team played out an exciting quarter-final last Friday against Eoghan Rua, losing out narrowly by 13 scores to 12. They now prepare for the shield play-offs.
Our boys under-15 footballers play Geevagh/St Michael's in their 'B' championship semi-final this Thursday evening in Ballintogher at 7pm.
Good luck to our boys under-13 football teams who play championship games against St Molaise Gaels this week.
Our boys minor footballers are also in action against Molaise in the championship next Monday evening (Aug 29th). The game's in Grange at 7pm.
A big thank-you to everybody who came along to the club's Ukraine 'Taster' evening last Wednesday at Oxfield. 32 Ukranian children were invited along by the club go give gaelic football and hurling a try. Some of our club coaches were there to guide them through the introductions. The event was co-ordinated by Liz King and the Sligo Family Resource Centre - and it was a thoroughly enjoyable event for everybody involved. Thanks to all who helped out behind the scenes.
There's still time to enter the club's Garth Brooks Croke Park concert ticket giveaway. We have two tickets to be won for the Croker concert on Friday, September 9th. Entry to the draw is online and costs €10 with all proceeds going to the club. The draw will be made next week. See drp.gaa.ie or the club's Facebook page for more info.
Saturday morning All-Stars coaching continues this weekend at Rathcormac NS at the usual times. New players (girls and boys) are always very welcome to come along.
